Sniffles and Sneezes [ action || open ]
[The turn of the cold weather had done a number on Ashura, and the rapid switch back to warming temperatures (not to warm yet, but warm enough), was playing havoc on his sinuses. The end result being he was stricken with something of a nasty head cold. And of course the consequence of this being that he sneezed - a lot.

The throbbing pressure of a sinus head ache made concentrating a bit difficult, which in turn meant that almost every other time he sneeze, especially in a chain, there was a pop (like a firecracker) of a burst of flame around him. It happened now and then when he got sick, even at this age (one never quite grew out of it).

He was out for some light exercise, a walk really, but the sneezes kept coming - and with the, the pops.]

[ooc: he won't be setting anything on fire, unless you want him to accidentally set something of yours on fire. Otherwise the little flare ups are to fast to do much besides make that loud 'pop' sound.]

[Ukitake has countless tricks up his sleeve to relieve the pains of a head cold. It comes with the territory of a chronic lung disease. He waves when he sees Ashura and makes his way over.]

why hello there ~

[Ashura brightens at the sight of his friend and raises a hand in greeting when the other approaches... and sneezes, a crack flashing between them.]

Fancy seeing you here. :)

[Eyes widening a fraction, Ukitake nevertheless moves to his friend's side.] Not feeling well?

I know right?

A head cold, it seems.

[He shakes his head and delicately sniffs, hidden behind his sleeves.]

It seems bad enough that I am reverting to a rather juvenile problem.

[He sneezed and another crack sounded.]

We're just that cool.

I take it the juvenile problem you mean is the sparks, and not the sneezing. [Because sneezing observes no barrier of age.]

Yes, quiet. It happens sometimes. Thankfully they are more controlled than in my youth, else half the dome would be aflame now.

That's good to hear. Dousing the entire dome wouldn't do much for that cold of yours.

[He chuckled.]

Or anyone else, I think.

[A sneeze, another crack.]

I thought the walk might help, but...

It would be better to rest. [Laying a hand on Ashura's elbow.] Come. Let's return to your dwelling.

[He sighed.]

Probably for the best.

[He nodded and slid his arm through Ukitake's, allowing the other to start guiding him back.]

Huh, this rapid change weather is bringing havoc on me.

It can be difficult to cope with such sudden changes in conditions. [Ukitake is fortunate he hasn't become ill himself. Yet.]

Still, at least it appears warmer weather is ahead.

Yes, that is true.

[He sighed as they walked and then sneezed several times rapid fire, the cracks following in flashes.]

It is a wonder I haven't spooked someone to death...

Oh, I don't think it's all that bad. At least you're not setting anyone on fire.

True. I used to cause quite the panic as a child - I set the curtains and plants on fire more than once.

Goodness. Though, I suppose some Soul Reapers have similar problems in their youth, if they're strong enough.

Really? Heh, I thought it would only be a Talented problem.

[He chuckled, remembering.]

I always had a servant with a cup of water ready to dump on anything I accidentally a lit before I got control of myself.

Really. Any Soul Reaper of sufficient ability can cause disruptions to the environment around them.

Well, I suppose I feel a bit better. At least I am managing to keep a lid on it and just causing the sparks. The servants would have wished for that centuries ago!

I take it when you were younger, you didn't cause sparks so much as potential conflagrations.

[He chuckled and nudged the other lightly as they walked, coming to his apartment building and heading in.]

I think the servants were more grateful than anything, especially the one that had to carry around the water.

I keep it simple. I used to be able to have high complicated twists and braids. Now I simply must only have it down, braided, or in a tail.

Interesting. Is that a particular feature of the aristocracy, or do all of your people embrace such elaborate styles?

Well, my father did not, but he was more... simple, than I was in such things. I take somewhat after my mother in this respect, but I am also supposed to represent all my people, and thus I try and find balance between female and male harmonies.

It is not necessary for me to dress me hair so, but for formal occasions I wear it elaborately. During battle and less formal times, I wore it more simply.

It really is a thing that depends on situations, though many aristocratic women where their hair in such a way more often than non, simply because they do not have to do things that risk ruining the effort put into making it that way.

The most elaborate styling is generally reserved for the women of highborn families in Soul Society, although they generally do not carry such things into service as Soul Reapers should they join. It is much more rare for men to trouble themselves with more than simply tying back their hair. [Unless they happen to be Byakuya.]

The same can be said of mine, but as I said, I represent all my people, so I try and pick a path of style and dress between the two sexes.
