I was Irish. [ as if that does well to surmise what it had been like. it does, to someone who knows their history. this teacher/guardian she spoke of would likely get it. ] It wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. I had a warmer welcome in China during the height of the Boxer Rebellion than I did stepping off a boat in New York.
[ not that angel hadn't been deserving of the way he was treated - but he deserved it because he was a vampire, and one who had inflicted pain and suffering on countless victims in the days before his soul was returned to him. not because he was irish. ]
I came to America to get away from my past in the hopes that I'd be left alone. Being Irish brought on a lot of unwanted attention that made blending in harder than I thought it was gong to be.
