[Kurama is passing by the pet cafe when it happens. The reflectionin the window is his own ... but not one that he has seen since before coming to Marina. A tall, silver figure is surrounded on all sides by a bamboo forest made sinister by a starless, moonless night. It is a forest of Makai, the demon realm, and it is a place that Kurama knows all too well and has no wish to revisit.
His reflection is not alone, however. Beside the youko is another figure, a shadow bearing the sharp-tipped wings of a bat. This is Kuronue, dead for over a thousand years, and he matches Kurama's swift pace with the occasional beat of leathery wings.
Kurama is sick at the thought of what he will see next, and almost turns away ... but instead of playing out a memory, the vision plays out what might have been. The trap that killed Kuronoe is sprung, but rather than skewer the demon, as happened in life, it slices through nothing but air. The Kurama in the vision saw the danger and pulled his friend and partner back in time.
The vision cuts off there, but it leaves Kurama standing outside of the cafe with a fist clenched so tightly that his nails have drawn blood from his palm, which seeps slowly between his elegant theif's fingers.]
