Aside from an instinctual half-step back Reid held his ground admirably, although it was probably clear to see that Helix definitely succeeded in his intimidation tactics - saying he couldn't defend himself wasn't a lie, without a gun he was hopelessly helpless despite the years in the field. Combat just wasn't his thing, brains where and the few times he had been sent in for a confrontation that was what had gotten him out of it. Not kicking in doors, like Morgan did.
He stubbornly maintained eyecontact, swallowing raggedly at the death threat but still managing to show that he wasn't afraid. Listening? Yes. Submissive? Always. But afraid..? Well, he definitely was but he wasn't going to let that show more than absolutely necessary. Still, he couldn't quite keep himself from breathing a small sigh of relief as Helix backed off, shoulders slumping some as the tension leaked out of them.
Alright. This was about as far as he could push, any more would just be pushing his luck - so he nodded to show that he understood, was well aware of just what kind of hell was waiting for him should he betray this tentative trust.
"I don't doubt that for a second."
Another beat and then he turned for the door, taking that shift in position as an invitation to get the hell out. But as soon as he reached the door he stopped, turned halfway back towards Helix to give him a few parting words. It had been said, but it could - and should - be said again.
"Just... think about, okay? What we talked about. It really is up to you."
