[action]
[Mixed emotions. No, not even emotions, more like reactions because on one hand it's always satisfying when you get it right and on the other... well. In this case he wouldn't have minded much if he was off target. It's different when you're not profiling a criminal.
Well.
By now he's figured out enough about her and the world she's from to follow quite well, mind automatically filling in the blanks with information he's gathered elsewhere, statistics and studies, whatever fits the profile and by the time she's done he has a pretty good idea of what her early life was like. Perhaps better than she'd think.
She makes him think of Prentiss. They're not alike in any significant way but that's still where his thoughts are drawn, and the fact that she's telling him all this now and not years down the line is... reassuring. Maybe even a little heart-warming. It's a great show of trust, especially since she's probably as reluctant as he is to get too close to people. It's one thing to have someone else figure you out, but a whole different thing to confirm those theories so willingly.
In the end there's not a whole lot to say, so he settles for a smile of gratitude, letting his expression do the talking. This isn't something he's great at, it's more Hotch's area and even more so Gideon's, which is why he won't even attempt to comment on her story. She shared it and he listened, will remember it for the rest of his life most likely and that is really good enough. ]
