[... Because she is sure he can sense her, just as much as she can sense him, she finds it pointless to hide things.]
Maybe over those past ten thousand years ago, it was similar to your world. A long long time ago humans nearly became extinct. There was global climate changes, and no one was faring well. That was when vampires first appeared.
[Some of this is from her history lessons, but other bits she remembers relieving through her fiance's memories.]
Vampires were originally born from human parents. They tried to help the humans learn how to grow better crops and take care of themselves. Since they were different, though, they were often persecuted and driven off. Particularly because our lifespans are so long.
[It's sad]
But there came a point where some of the vampires decided that they were better than humans, and sought to enslave humankind. Some of the vampires fought against those ones along side humans by helping give them the power to fight back, and ultimately won. Now-a-days, outside of the hunter's association, humans don't know we exist, though.
[She gives a small sigh, eyes glazed over as she thinks back toward home and what she knows. None of it is easy or even a pretty tale. Their history is dark, and current events aren't turning out for the best.]
Currently there are many problems between various pureblood vampires, and the hunters and vampires in general are in a state of unrest. I'm very concerned about things, but I don't believe it sounds as precarious as within your own world.
