Not saying Helix couldn't be blamed for any of this but ultimately it had been Aidan's choice to get involved and he was sticking to it. There was no doubt in his mind that he'd done enough bad things to warrant a prison sentence, even if life was a bit harsh. In the end he'd take full responsibility for his punishment - the fact that he got to spend it with Helix in relative freedom just made it that much easier to swallow.

He wasn't really trying to lighten the mood but it was the best response he had, even if it momentarily distracted him from the topic at hand. It wasn't so serious though, was it? They were stuck together and that was better than being stuck apart. If Helix wanted him around, then he'd be around as much as he possibly could. Aidan had left his life in the others hands, after all. It was only fair.
