Of course by 'normal' he meant a good life, whatever the other wanted, normal adventure, something not the life of a criminal. He didn't want the other trapped in a fishbowl when he should be free to explore. He definitely didn't want to be the reason all of that was caged, but here they were. He'd tried to stop the other from getting involved with him all that time ago, but like Aidan would honestly listen to reason?
Even if he needed his company more than ever... He'd like to think he'd rather be alone than have Aidan trapped here with him, but truth be told he was happier now. He was relieved that someone familiar was with him and he could have his best friend by his side again.
There was an almost uncomfortable warmth that spread out through his chest when Aidan called him his best friend. He cast his eyes off sheepishly, fidgeting some in the discomfort of mushy emotions. He sighed softly and shrugged, "Maybe because a best friend shouldn't get you arrested with a life sentence or ever put your life in danger."
He knew he was a bad guy, he knew he was a terrible influence and only got Aidan in trouble. He was the type of kid mother's told their sons to stay away from. He didn't think he deserved to be his best friend, he didn't even think he was a GOOD friend.
