[Helix wanted to believe that things would work out and he--in his original timeline--would see Aiden again too. He just hoped that nothing had happened to Aiden while he was off hiding from Jethro and having Karma kick his ass. And just because Helix was hiding all of the gritty details of what had happened to him in those months, did not mean that he didn't need Aiden at all. He just didn't know how to tell him, he could barely admit to himself that any of it happened.
But when the other looked at him with such pain and fear written all over his face, he could feel his heart break. His brows knitted with turmoil for a moment, he wanted desperately to be able to explain himself but he didn't know how. He didn't know what to say or how to even start. If he told him one thing it would lead into another, and he wasn't ready to talk about it. He was too ashamed of it all.
So he half-chuckled and tried to give the other a smile without it looking too fake.]
What--yeah, of course we're okay. You haven't done anything wrong. [It wasn't a lie. Aiden hadn't done anything at all. He was afraid he'd ruined things. Because of where Aiden was taken from in their timeline he still had a chance to keep things as they were. He was afraid to admit what he'd done because he wasn't sure how Aiden would react to it. It might destroy everything they had. He didn't want Aiden to feel betrayed after he'd just got him back in his life.]
You're fine. Relax. [But he wasn't okay and he needed to hide that better or have the other worry too much.]
