But it's just common sense, isn't it? You can't actually choose if you're not capable of following through on each option.
Ultimately, you've got to put your money where your mouth is--that's what counts, even if it's hard to make out from the outside. If you refuse to kill at all, then you're saying that life itself is most important--or maybe that your own purity and peace of mind are most important, depending on how things go. But if you just choose not to kill a particular person under any circumstances, then you're holding that bond above all else, presumably.
