Alternative You Event Info
On Day 387 (August 1-7) things have changed for you. You just don't know they changed. You woke up as an AU version of yourself, but as far as you know this is the way it's always been.

ALTERNATE REALITY FLAVORS:

• Genre — High school? Musical? Post-apocalyptic? Western? Rule 34? Space? Vampire?

• Shifts in your history — You chose to follow your dream of being a singer instead of going into terrorism years ago? You were never cursed by a witch? Your parents were never killed so you didn't become Batman?

• Shifts in your world's history — Space travel was never achieved? A war had a different victor? Pollution rates tripled?

• Random — You are now someone's long lost lover or a different species or gender or anything. You've seen how it goes in movie reboots.

These are just examples. The possibilities are endless!

PHYSICAL CHANGES: Your character can have all the appropriate physical transformations you need—eyebrow ring, purple hair, scars, wheelchair, species change, powers, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES: Of course, you don't have the trappings of your AU-supported world around you. But maybe your apartment and wardrobe better reflects the current you. Or maybe it doesn't. Sometimes the wardens fully support their work and sometimes they get a little lazy, so the details are up to you.

PRISON-RELATED MENTAL CHANGES: You can transform your character's perception of their relationships and role in the prison accordingly, leave it how it is, or you can imagine that they only recently arrived. Do what works best for you and your AU!

AWARENESS: Just because you don't know anything has changed for you doesn't mean other people won't notice you're different even if they've been affected too. You can also think some people have changed and others are the same. Whatever works!

SHARING IS CARING: People can also share AUs even cross-canonly.

NEW JOURNALS: If you want a new journal for new icons you're welcome to it. You just have to make posts/top-levels/first comments with your regular journal so we (the mods and those you're playing with) can be sure it's you!

EDIT: FAQ

• IC Rules — The wardens will give people a pass on the IC Rules this time because they aren't themselves. The wardens also aren't announcing this free-for-all or anything, but if a crime of passion (any sort) occurs they won't bring you up on charges. Of course, being back in our regular facility means death will be handled as it usually is and not on a permanent basis like it was in the Pleasure Prison.

• Memories after the event — You will remember what happened while affected and a little about the circumstances of how you got to be that way if you'd like. You won't remember an entire lifetime's worth of memories though. It will feel more dreamlike.

Short Version: She's in the scientific/tech community and publicly promotes a positive image for mutants. She's not a fighter and she's had a much happier, easier life.

Long Version: She is canon AU usually and in that AU Legion went back in time to kill Magneto in hopes of giving Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans a better chance. Except Xavier managed to save Magneto and died instead. Setting off the darkest timeline. So, in this version Legion gets his wish and it's going to play out more or less like he hoped (which may not be the most likely of outcomes, but it's what we're rolling with this time around!) Apocalypse doesn't rise to power because Xavier still hits the ground running with public outreach and there is a greater amount of good will and cooperation. What does this mean for Kitty?

Well, she's still a mutant, but her parents are alive.
Her dancing career was put on the back burner when her powers emerged. She did attend Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning, but she never became an X-Man in the same way. There was much less need for a militaristic approach. Some mutants fight in various Avengers divisions (because the Avengers got to survive this time!) But the institute really just was a place to help learn control of your powers in a safe environment. She didn't spend a ton of time there because she's a quick study and she went on to a college while she was still very young.

She's a recognized, outspoken member of and for the mutant community. She gets quoted for articles and appears as a talking head when something happens. She's a minor activist celebrity but she's also respected in the scientific community. She works regularly with Tony Stark and Reed Richards developing new and improved technology. Some is geared toward protection/defense (weapons) since there are still threats, but largely she works on improving lives. Her specific goal is to help people with uncontrollable, dangerous powers that threaten their own bodies and lives. She also guest lectures at the Institute.

She has good control over her powers, but she was never trained as a fighter. She still has a hero's heart and made headlines once saving a family from a house fire, but she uses her mind to help on a large scale more than her body.

She's friendly, sassy, outgoing, curious, and confident. She can get heated and lose her cool over bigots or anyone not respecting her because of her age or gender. Prepare for a lecture or a burn in those cases! She's currently single, but she's had a string of boyfriends—nothing too serious. Definitely never been married.

In Marina: I am open to plotting if you want existing relationships in the dome with her! Otherwise, I'll just make her think she arrived only recently and we can work on those relationships together. (Not so recently you need to explain how the prison works, but enough that you're meeting for the first time.)

Details are subject to change. Also, I have ideas kicking around for Euphie, but nothing this solid yet, so I'll post her separately when I do!
