tl;dr
- I ASSUME Schneizel's reaction was purely due to knowing Lelouch's geass needs eye contact but that's an assumption! Any cast who wants to see it, we will figure something out :3
But like, he didn't turn away when he used it on Kallen the second time; or when he used it on his teacher in the same episode. (He was testing whether it could be used twice or not.) Euphie should have seen it, either when Lelouch first started to activate it or when it turned on by itself. Etc.
I think R2 blurs the line a little more, but *in theory* the contact lenses are power dampeners because Lelouch can't turn it off, and not to hide the visual effect.
- I haven't read the (untranslated) R2 novels (tho I'm gonna try -- I bought them!), but they're all totally secondary to anime canon. <3 All of the manga, with the possible exception of Oz of the Reflection, are AU anyway and I haven't read them either!
I might play with little dribbles here and there but only when they only affect me, or are something my cast mates also like.
It shouldn't be any problem to stick to the anime :o
THOUGH now I want to link you to Rolo's picture drama ;o; because it's so sad!! Have you watched it? (I consider the Picture Dramas and (R1!!!) Sound Episodes much more canon than the novels.)
(I have no idea what to do with The Miracle Birthday, but what I take from it is a.) yes, Lelouch is dead; b.) he loved Rolo; and c.) Suzaku is incredibly bitter and sad about Lelouch's death.)
- and speaking of which! Loving Rolo.
So as he puts up the grave marker, Lelouch remarks that Rolo was the brother of Lelouch Lamperouge, not Lelouch vi Britannia, which solidifies for me the (head)canon that Lelouch wound up with two sets of memories, which are kind of... overlaid and messy.
Like. CC brought back his memories, which I have a Theory about how that I should take to Apa more about lolol, but she didn't break the original geass; Lelouch still has his false memories. This is why it takes him a full two or three minutes in Turn 2 to realize Rolo shouldn't exist.
And as a consequence, he still has all these memories of Rolo that are of a brother he cared about. They're memories of a different Lelouch, a Lelouch who wasn't an exiled Prince and didn't hate Britannia in the same way -- of a Lelouch Lamperouge.
He does his best to discard and not care about these memories because he knows intellectually that They Are Lies, but there's still very much a part of him that cared about Rolo, and that part was devastated when Rolo died for him, and in Lelouch's ideal fantasy world he has two younger siblings, Nunnally and Rolo, and they all grew up together. (This is what The Miracle Birthday, where for a cracky day Rolo, Shirley, and Lelouch are all alive again, shows.)
So. Lelouch would very much like to make things work with Rolo, in his heart of hearts. He would like to make the lie of their family into something real. And I think he would be willing to put a good deal of work into it.
Also WARY AS ALL GET OUT, after what happened to Shirley. (Not nearly as wary as he would be if he knew Rolo had wanted to kill Nunnally, though! He really thought Rolo was more in his control than that orz.) But, you know, wanting to try.
- two avenues of getting points that Lulu will be pursuing are classes and, eventually, a little couture shop where he designs and creates made-to-order clothing. He could certainly encourage Rolo to complete his education (with bonus tutoring / homework-checking, as in canon), and maybe if Rolo wanted to stalk help him with the store, could get some points that way.
