ack tl;dr ;;;;;
Okay... I'm going to go on and ask for more information around the idea that having more than 8 characters in the game is a problem on whatever level. The point that having that many characters in the game disrupts gameplay is sort of disappointing to me as... the only person who has as many at the current time. So yeah, I'm admittedly taking this a little personally because it sort of feels like you're telling me that I'm a problem. Any time a player hiatuses it is going to pause their threads, but I don't think it's fair to punish people who have more characters for it. I don't think my hiatusing is more or less disruptive to the game than anyone else's. Marina is a very backtag-friendly game, after all.
The point about overlapping CR is also confusing to me, as I play 2 characters from the same canon who clearly have overlapping canon CR, and numerous instances of CR overlap in the game among my characters. I feel I've handled it fairly and have never had any complaints about it (unless someone would care to make one now?). A person with as little as 2 or 3 canonically unrelated characters could have overlapping CR as they play with their favorite players or favorite characters, or join the DF with several of them, and on and on; I think what's important isn't the number of muses they play, but the way in which they handle it.
I don't understand that if I as a player have consistently proven myself able to be active and mature with 8 characters why I shouldn't be able to request, on an individual basis, to have more. Last time I dropped Anew to app Tony, and I didn't argue because the game was in a huge state of transition. However, Anew had close CR and plans, and dropping her not only affected me but also hurt other players. If I am able to meet the increased AC requirements with my 8 then why should I have to drop one of my muses that is still active with a multitude of CR in order to try a new one that I am exited to try out in this environment?
No complaints about the increased AC requirements at all for over 6 characters. Perfectly fair. But then again, if I'm able to meet that with ALL of my 8 characters, does that not prove that I'm committed enough to the game to be considered on an individual basis for another?
I adore you both as people and as mods, but I feel like I should be able to bring new characters if I want to play them here and can manage the activity. I love this game and I love the environment and I think I've consistently proven myself capable of managing my characters' CR and activity despite my RP problems. I would be very disappointed to have to drop one of my active muses that has solid and interesting CR in order to try out a new, strong muse that people might enjoy and I would certainly enjoy playing.
tl;dr: Why can't the system be more on an individual basis with the new AC requirements and their history in the game being the main prerequisites? And then obviously if the player isn't cutting it with a large number of characters in terms of activity or whatever then that's a different conversation, to me.
