[Cyril is seated outside the ice cream parlor. he's dressed in his snazzy 1920s-era clothing, but more importantly, his attention is entirely focused on the pile of Legos (or brand name-less building blocks) in front of him. he has a number of airplanes and trains and trams in front of him, some finished and others half way there. Let no one say that the man doesn't have hobbies.]

[Considering the amount of Legos left, he has a long way to go. He pauses long enough to look at his half-finished plane, before tossing it over his shoulder and onto the ground.]

What's better - an airplane or a battle ship?

Hm.

Well, I guess it depends. You're talking about a fighter airplane, I assume? [Battleship would indicate such.]

Yeah. The kinds they used in the war.

[but there's ONLY BEEN ONE WAR well one world war]

The Great War. [or world war I as it's called later, but for now they call it the great war] They didn't use planes in the wars before it.

[Oooohhh... Now he figured it out.]

Oh. So, wait... you must be from my past. By my time, there's been two of those wars. [Well, two World Wars. And Vietnam. And the Korean War. And... Well, better not to dwell on it for now.]

So, you're looking for those early planes.

[Touma was so used to this by now, that he completely rolled over the idea that what he'd just said might bother someone else.]

Yeah. I know, sounds really weird, and all. I'm not quite sure how it all works, either, but this place has the ability to pull people in from different points in time. So, I'd be from your future.

...Alright. [whatever he'll play along!] You said there's already been two great wars?

[Touma considered the tone, and paused a bit.]

Yeah. One in the 1910's and one in the 1940's. Approximately. Both lasted a really long time.

But, if you're going with the battle ships of the same era, a plane is much more maneuverable. So, for that, it would be better. It's faster, and can turn sharply. That being said, though, battle ships are a little tougher and can take a few badly placed hits from airplanes before sinking.

I guess it would depend on what kind of mission you're pulling off.

Do both! The battleship can carry the airplane!

Mm, yes. I like your enthusiasm. [enthusiastic answers are the best!!!]

I could always make the battle ship a few sizes bigger.

Oo~h! Those look really neat! You've got to have a lot of creativity to build a ship or a plane with that. Have you started on something?

Depends on the plane. Battleships are massive, so if you're talking a passenger plane, then sure the battleship wins easy. But the Kingcobra is a thing of beauty.

Kind of long with a pointy nose with a propeller, thinner wings, good guns. Soviets use it. Pretty good mobility from what you see on the pictures. The Havoc's pretty nice, too. Makes me wish I had gone into the Air Force sometimes instead of the Army.

So you're a soldier. [he was pretty young when world war I was going on himself] Well, I can't say I disagree. There's just something about flying in the air that interests me.

Am I that obvious? [Amused.] Flying's fine and dandy. I'm talking more about how they do. Battleships have raw power, but fighter planes have the maneuverability and speed to get in and get out. More my kind of thing.

Believe me, there are plenty of men in the Army that aren't soldiers. [What with people enlisting left and right to serve their country by being bullet fodder and the Draft going into effect.]

The planes weren't so bad, especially with the right pilot. We didn't get to see as much of them on the ground.

That depends on what you call a "soldier." I don't really think a guy with a gun counts.

Some. Others just look like streamline vessels that float through the sky and space. They're all shapes and sizes.

Bet you could find a book or something with pictures in the library.

[An intergalactic encyclopedia of warships or something.]
