Day 442 / Video and action / open
Video – 9 am

I assume it doesn't need to be said, but everyone get yourselves and anything you want to hang onto to Sector 0.

Anyone need help with anything, let me know.

Action – open

He spends the morning in Sector 2, picking up a few bits they might need in MAHR and then checking for anyone he needs to shoo out of the sector. He pauses to gaze at the Defence Force Headquarters where he spent so much of his time until the last few weeks, and the Library, where Ianto spent so much of his. A whole lot of memories there and who knows if they'll ever return.

The early afternoon is Sector 3, where he checks in briefly on the clinic, visits the hot springs for memory's sake, and then heads for the Bull's Eye store, where he starts loading sleeping bags and other equipment onto trolleys and shuttling them through to Sector 0.

Sector 4 is more personal. He's lived here the whole eight months he's been here, and built up a lot of memories. Bean Crushers, where he gets the last perfectly brewed coffee from his pet bot Taylor. The Daffodil Dive, with the conflicting emotions it invokes. The little row of restaurants called Little Earth where he and Ianto have eaten so many meals. Captain Jack's Exotic Emporium, a more recent venture but one he's put of effort a lot into; he bags up a few of his favourite items to take with him, just in case. And then there's the apartment he's shared with Ianto all this time, chock full of memories, and quite a few little mementoes he's determined not to leave behind, things like the little book of photos Ianto gave him at 'Christmas', and the box of photos he'd lost in the Hub that the wardens had thoughtfully recreated for him.

Come evening, he can be found in Sector 0, mentally checking people off to make sure everyone's there, and wandering around to see if anyone needs a hand setting up.

"Shame," he grins, because Ianto nude on the beach would have been yummy!

Then the grin turns a little self-conscious at Ianto's observation. "It did," he admits, with a little shrug. "The idea that it meant committing to something, when I'd already just lost you once... Hell, it still scares me to death."

Especially given their seemingly unlikely future in this place.

It all seems so long ago. They were different people then, at least when it came to their relationship with each other. When they arrived he was still hard at work pretending to himself this relationship was never going to be anything more than just sex and some good times. That he had to hide his feelings from Jack because surely they must be one sided. That this was never going to be anything real. All of that has changed and a great deal of it happened here and even though he doesn't know what the future holds leaving this place that became their home feels like the end of a chapter. Like there was be something final about closing that door.

There's so much he wants to say but in the end he just smiles, turning his gaze away from their surroundings to Jack's face. "These last eight months have been the best of my life. I'm glad we both got our second chance."

((I've been rereading some of our old threads in some end of game nostalgia. We did a dang good job with these boys here.))

He turns in Ianto's embrace to face him, bringing his other hand up to Ianto's waist, and smiles at him, his eyes sparkling with what might be a hint of tears. They've come such a long way in this place.

"Best of mine too," he says softly. "You've taught me a lot, Ianto Jones."

((OOC: Yeah, I read through quite a few not long ago and I love the journey we've taken them on here!))

He leans in against him as that arm wraps around him, feeling those same emotions along with something like peace. This started out as a second chance but it's been a long time since he's thought of it that way. Jack isn't the only one who has learned from their relationship during their time here. They both have.

He could say all of that but there doesn't feel like a need for it. They've said it all before, or felt it. Either way they both know how good things are, how much they've grown from this, the fact that they're both better men than they were when they picked out this apartment that's become their home. And while he'll miss it it's the memories it gave him and the closeness with Jack that are important, not the place. No matter what happens tomorrow they have that. It's hard to be scared when he thinks of it that way.

So he leans in for a long, sweet kiss, one that says all of that without a single word. When he pulls away the smile on his face is calm and happy without any trace of sadness. "Come on, we better get going."

The kiss says everything that needs to be said, and he's slow to pull away, but when he does, like Ianto, he's smiling. "Yeah, we had," he agrees, and leans down to pick up his pack without actually letting go of Ianto, then steers him through the door, pausing to close it behind them. Who knows, they might get to come back.

Or... "You know, even if they do get this sorted out and put everything back as it was later, perhaps we should look for somewhere else with Spike now? Do you think he'd like that?"

There's something final about closing that door behind them but it doesn't feel like a bad thing. Once it would have made him feel uncertain, or like an ending but now it just leaves him curious to see what comes next. He picks up his own bag, holding Jack's hand as they leave.

"If there's ever a chance he'll agree to it this is it. If nothing else we might get him to agree to a next door neighbor situation." It's been nice having them both around these last few days. He could get used to it.

This hand-holding thing... he's almost starting to get used to it. It started out with Ianto and Spike doing it and it's just sort of transferred over to the two of them now too, and really, he rather likes it. (He's momentarily distracted by an amusing image of him and Spike holding hands at some point in the future, which makes him grin at its unlikeliness. But then, who knows?)

"Perhaps we could find somewhere big enough for all three of us, where we could all have our own space, but somewhere to come together when we wanted to as well?"

The hand holding is a bit of a hold over from Spike, but right now it feels appropriate. Thinking back on all the things they've gone through here makes him feel particularly close to Jack just now.

"That might be the best. Who knows, maybe they'll create a whole new set of apartments for us to chose from after this is all over?"

Yeah, he's certainly not making any move to let go. With his bag on his back, he still has a hand free to press the button for the lift, after all.

"Who knows? It's kind of hard to speculate on what the future may bring at this point, isn't it?" he admits as he pulls Ianto into the lift. "Hard to imagine how we're going to get out of this one."

In the privacy of the lift, it's a little easier to admit.
