DAY 426 — Morning Greeting
Good morning, previous - erm, inmates... New collective? Sounds a little bit nicer, but it's up to you what you'd like to be called. I'd be interested to hear your suggestions. [What do you want to identify as, MarinaNovians? Where do you feel you stand now? It's fascinating.]

You may have noticed a few new changes overnight, one more subtle than the other. We removed the sentinel presence from the dome as it was feeling obsolete. Much like some technology of yours we've updated, replacing your previous headset system with a device and accessory modeled more closely to smartphones you may be accustomed to. This now allows for voice, video and text posts. I know this is a sudden change, but you've already acclimated to so much I'm sure you can handle it.

Oh yes, and I believe you like to finish these things off with a tune.

((OOC: The FAQ is updated, check for more information on the headsets and other changes.))

Those who allegedly possess weapons either acquired them within the dome or have them as an extension of their abilities - but if you'd like to request an investigation into the matter, I can file that for you. [He's curious if you're going to set up your fellow inmates.] In the meanwhile, I cannot promise providing you with a weapon at the current time. We're quite busy establishing this simulation and ensuring it's free of errors, and bringing in any item from a different dimension is a complex issue within itself.

[...] But I'll make a note of your request, should we come back to discussing it in the future.

Actually, they received their weapons on request from your partner's AI after they had earned enough points. So, no. I don't want it to be investigated. It was something they got in the way that had been set up for getting that kind of stuff.

[Nope. Keith wasn't going to give names.]

But, yeah. Whatever. Are you going to tell us when we can really get stuff from home, then? Or is it just because it happens to be a dagger that you're playing this "delay" thing?

[He might be a little bitter at the outcome.]

The points system was in effect before I took over for Smith, and was rescinded once Mary and I came to work together. I can look up your last tally if it makes you feel any better, but I can also reassure you the amount of points would not be sufficient for such a request due to your recent arrival. I'm sorry if that change was inconvenient but we're trying to shape a new system here - and it's not so easy to pull things in from different dimensions without creating those glitches you're so concerned about.

You understand how it's better not to tempt fate in some situations? [Fate, probability. Same thing.] As I said, your request is made note of and perhaps at a later date we can revisit it.

[Okay, fine. He could see a roadblock when it was put up. But still... one of his questions wasn't answered.]

Any idea on when that later date might be?

A date later than the now. [Sorry, he's a bit exhausted of patience today.]

For perspective, this is day two of us self-sustaining your simulated data entirely on our own. Give us some time to establish the ground work, will you?

Will you let us know when, then? So I can come back? Or am I going to have to guess?

[Someone else wasn't exactly patient, either.]

Pick a number between ten and a hundred. Any number you please.

[wut]

What does that have to do with anything?

[He growled softly.]

Fine. [Arms crossed.] 52.

If you don't hear from me in 52 days, Keith, feel free to drop by and see me about looking into your request.

Seriously? That's like... almost two months!

[He had to think about the time period. He was still converting his head back to more Earth-like time cycles from Altean ones.]

That is correct. Anything further I can do for you, Keith?

Can I pick a different number? You know, like... 15?

No, because the number is arbitrary. [He said come back in 52 days if you haven't heard from him.]

It doesn't change the processing of your request in any way.

No, I know that. [Uuuuugh.] But I'd rather check in sooner than later.

You chose the number. Show me you can stick with your decisions, it's a promising quality in an individual.

I've informed you that if you don't hear from me in 52 days, to come and talk to me. Your request is otherwise being considered for processing.

Would you like to cancel your request? Otherwise, there's nothing further to do here, Keith.

Oh, no. There is no way I'm cancelling this. Not a chance.

[Yes... this knife was that important to him. He grumbled.]

I'll be back in 52 days if I don't hear anything.
