[The decision to shift the attention to Jac was absolutely a deliberate one and not just because it gets Spike to stay. Frankly he could probably use to have the spotlight taken off of him for a bit. He listens with interest to Jack's account of things, feeling a tight ball of anger and frustration build up inside him that he tries to hide. He can forgive a lot from their captors but this is the first thing they've done that he finds genuinely unforgivable.]
