I wanted to let everyone know I stepped down from the Defense Force, and I don't think it is going to be continued by anyone at this time. [There's really no reason anyone would have to inform her if they were, but based on the discussions that came out of talking to the other members she didn't think so.] If that changes, or anything similar is created in it's place, I'm sure they'll let you know.

[She didn't say anything at the meeting, and she almost doesn't say anything now. She knows Kitty, but not well and maybe it isn't her place to comment. But she's never been one to hide her thoughts, either.]

I know I did not say anything to you at the meeting you held, but I would like to let you know I believe this is the right choice. I am sure it is a very hard one, though. It must be difficult to walk away from something you have poured so much of your heart into.

Definitely a hard one. I hope it's not the wrong one. [Especially with no one else—so far—picking up the mantle it could mean a more disorganized approach to future emergencies and maybe no consistent presence for archiving information and searching for patterns. It's not that people won't do it, but if they work alone then their work is lost when they are.

She believes in teams, but that team was a Frankenstein where everyone had their own idea of what it was there for and a different approach to it and different loyalties. They never became a real team. It might have been too much to ask with people always coming and going and full of their own priorities. And she'd be lying if she said she didn't feel more like an X-Man than a Defense Force member.]

I believe it is the right one. Although it existed to protect the citizens of this prison those who were likely to join were, for the most part, already capable of defending themselves against any threats while those who could not relied on it for a false sense of security it was never entirely able to provide and used it as an excuse to keep from learning the skills necessary to stay safe.

[Unlike a lot of people here hat trip to the future a few days ago seems to have done Aigis a lot of good. She seems more confident and sure of herself than she did before, like it was that last little push towards humanity that she needed.] Please do not misunderstand or take this as a slight against your leadership skills. I do not believ anyone could have prevented it. But I hope it's removal will lead people to take responsibility for their safety into their own hands now.

Well that... I mean, we're a community. People play different roles. That would be like saying police, fire fighters, and doctors make you weak because you rely on them. At least in worlds where those things still exist. I guess it's true in a every-man-for-himself sense, but not everyone can do everything.

It becomes [quieter because she hasn't had to say this phrase in a long time and it's the mantra that destroyed her world] survival of the fittest. [Something she's used to, but not something she approves of. People should look out for each other.]

While I agree it should not be survival of the fittest everyone should feel they are fit enough to survive. I believe many used the Force as an excuse to rely on others rather than learn to protect themselves. I have expressed such an opninion to Doctor Reid in the past, but I do not know if there is any real solution to it. It is always hard to keep people safe. [She might have matured but she doesn't have anything approaching the experience to guess mentioning Reid is not a good move right now.] I think the way you worked so hard to keep so many people safe is a very admirable thing.

	It is hard to feel like part of a team when you are so much stronger and more powerful than the other members. [A very perceptive look. She really did do a lot of growing from that future glimpse.] In my experience someone like that always becomes the leader, whether you want to or not. It is a great deal of responsibility. [She thinks Aigis is talking about herself at first. Android bodies can be very powerful, but the leadership comment makes her wonder if she means her. She's at a momentary loss of words.]

We were trying to bring a lot of very different people together. [Which had been hard for her at first. If she had started the force instead of taking it over she might have limited the ranks to only enhanced individuals. It's what she'd always known. It was a comfort level. She'd come a long way in accepting a more well-rounded team. She probably still had distance left to cover, but it was progress. It also never felt like home. It never felt like the X-Men. Like her team. Like somewhere she truly fit and yet she was probably as comfortable or more than the others because she'd been a part of it for so long.]

[It could be either of them, really. She led S.E.E.S. at home, even if she hasn't stepped up in the same way here. She knows how hard making some of those decisions can be. It never felt quite the same here.]

It is hard to do that at the best of times. I often prefer to patrol on my own rather than risk those who cannot match me. Perhaps now that will change. Or at least the way people react to danger will.

[Leading back home and leading here could not be more different. For one thing, there was no outside scrutiny. Everyone hated and feared you, but that had nothing to do with your actions and you didn't live among them. Your team is your family is your friends is your reality is everything.]

I think there is something to be learned and appreciated from doing it. I've learned a lot being here. But it's...challenging. [You're supposed to have each other's backs so the impulse to protect them is normal and necessary. But it's a lot harder to trust them to have your back. Hell, after how things ended with Piotr she's not sure she can ever do that with anyone again even if they have all the powers in the universe.]

I guess we'll see.

Yeah, it probably seems that way. [She'd been thinking about things for awhile. First she'd tried to get more help with communications and other duties and ideas and no one stepped forward. Then she'd found herself looking over her ever shrinking roster, considering how she might get more members or restructure the team again unsure of what would work best and what she wanted. But it was really the day spent in the future that made things start to feel clearer to her. That she wanted this second chance at life to be a life and not just a duty. It felt selfish, so she didn't do anything immediately, easily working her way through the motions of the existing structure, but Reid came to her with pressure for change and she had to admit she didn't have it in her heart to put more of herself into something others were putting less into.]

The population has been shrinking for awhile though. It seems like it's been affecting everything. [The athletic teams, the school, the organizations that used to exist and fell away completely.]

[A nod.] People seemed ready to be done with it. None of the others in leadership wanted it for sure. [She hadn't necessarily asked everyone else individually.] No one else showed interest in stepping up, but I did encourage them to take a day to think it over, so it's always possible plans are in the works. It's not something they'd need to tell me at this point. I wasn't planning to stay under new leadership.

[If there's anything that was told to them in confidence she'll cut that out, but she doesn't remember anything like that. Most of it were things revealed because they were very public like when Rido killed that kid on video or things announced with a punishment for murder. At that point it's just note keeping and being around for awhile. Almost everyone who ever made the list is gone now too.] I'll make you a copy of them. [She's going to hold on to it too.]

(OOC: There won't actually be a listing of info. It's just public info that goes back to roughly the beginning of the game with people who were around then filling in things from memory at the point when the force started so that's more spotty.)
