[ OPEN ACTION - AROUND THE DOME ]

[ It's an errand day. Nothing special, really, expect that today Spike's loading up on more than the usual cigarettes-whiskey-bloodbags that have become his usual shopping list. He can also be found at Bull's Eye, picking up extra linen and towels, stopping by the actual frozen food section of the grocery store where they keep the frozen food that isn't blood, adds a pack of coffee to the pile. Almost like he's preparing for less an overnight guest and more something permanent. Shit hit the fan and for once he's not the one to blame.

He'll take his time, so there's plenty of chances for people to stop and say hi. ]

[ CLOSED TO JACK ]

[ It's later that evening when he tracks down Jack at some bar. Maybe it's the first bar he checked, or the third, but there's an unmistakeable determination in this search. Almost like he's looking for someone to punch some sense into. ]

[She appreciates it. Though in the moment it doesn't even really register as out-of-place. So much of her twenty year job has faded, but some of it still has a hold on her. The general strengthening of affection she had for everyone is part of that. She's always cared about them, but for some it was in a more abstract hero-type way than others. Twenty years in with the same faces and they were family. Not all super close family, but still, there was a bond. And while her mind never formed any strong memory history around Spike the general vibe she had for him was a good one. She smiles at him.]

In future world I had given them up. Mostly. John still tempted me every now and then. In fact, I didn't touch them all of yesterday. Woke up with a huge craving today and cleaned out my stash. It was that close to being a good influence on me.

Sounds like something John would say about himself too. [She smiles at the thought, not that she really knows him that well with the twenty years removed.]

The vampire thing definitely seems like it would help with smoking risks. I keep toying with quitting. Maybe I'll get there one of these days. It used to be the least of my concerns. It creeps up the list here though.
