You're twisting my words here — what I'm talking about is the option of participation, not an authoritarian rule where you have to vote. Even more so, if we can't work together to adjust whatever organisational system we have in place to the fluctuations of population size — which has gone down over the last several months, not up — then we might as well settle in for the long haul because there's no way we can find a way out if we can't even manage that much.
We can't let fear of change and hypotheticals put us in a position of complacency and inaction. Yes, people are going to act independently but they're already doing that and from what I've heard in the past, at least part of that is due to not wanting to be part of an organised force.
