Day 397 [action | closed to Kitty]
[Chekov wakes up on Day 397 in a room that isn't his and with his arm draped over Kitty, who isn't usually in a bed with him. Usually no one's in bed with him. Usually he doesn't even bother sleeping in a bed. It's a disorienting way to regain consciousness for a number of reasons.

But he's quick to remember yesterday. Specifically the part of yesterday that involved Kitty asking him (with notecards--it was a strange day) to come over. She had seemed sad, but communication issues prevented him from learning why. Why hadn't really mattered once she'd curled up next to him.

He snuggles closer to her even though it would be wisest to get up. On one hand, he'd determined that giving her space was the best thing to do. On the other hand, they had ended up in bed together--fully clothed, but in bed nonetheless--and that had been her decision, so he can tell himself that Kitty doesn't want that much space after all.]

	Most of it has also been good. [He smiles at her because, while there have been plenty of bad things--most of them in the City, and most of those things that he hasn't shared with Kitty--this part is definitely good.] That makes it more difficult to be a part of everything that isn't here. 	[Hopefully she didn't really want an answer since he isn't going to remember that there was a question. All of this easy affection is slowing down his thoughts (which are usually many and scattered) and making him feel warm and heavy. It's nice. He kisses her lazily. 	[Why study physics if you can't occasionally use it to your advantage? Since he's still cognizant enough to know that there are lines they can't cross, his hands don't explore like they want to. 	Don't say it. [Because she knows. She knows they can't, but she still wants to keep going without thinking about where they have to stop even if that will just make it harder. 	I won't. [He wishes he hadn't said anything at all because now something that they had a moment before is gone. Maybe whatever punishment the wardens would give them (he doesn't even have a red band) would have been worth it if they could have gone just a little farther.
