Day 389 | Action/Video (semi-open)
Closed Action

(NOTE: Bolded is Mikaela Hyakuya, and regular text is Yuuichiro Hyakuya!)

[It didn't hurt, the light coming in through the dome ceiling. Actually seeing as how it's the first time Mika's been able to see anything resembling sunlight in four years, he finds himself standing in the open. As if that wasn't enough there was also greenery all around him and bugs with colorful wings flutter around him. He chokes back a sob loudly.] I wish you all could see this.

[It's kind of...breathtaking, honestly. When his eyes land on the ceiling of the dome, his breaths come to a brief pause. This is... kind of like the time he saw the snow for the first time after escaping the vampire city, only... there's a little less pain in his chest, right now. For a long while, he's caught up in looking at his surroundings, and yet not quite paying attention to who could be around. It's not until he hears someone speaking, that his attention is outright snatched away... ...And it's even as shock has his body frozen, he realizes exactly why his heart is suddenly racing. Somehow, his eyes manage to search out the source of that voice -- they completely widen at the sight. that's-...] M...ika...? [Even as his feet carry him forward, he can't deny just how... unreal this feels. If not for the fact that he's in an incredibly weird place, some part of him might be completely sure that this is nothing more than another dream...] ...You're... [He doesn't stop until he's within feet of the blond.] ...Mika...?

[He hears the soft footsteps before the sound of a familiar voice. Mika practically freezes when his name is spoken and dares not move in fear that something terrible will happen. If he sees the other boy, he'll cry - unable to hold himself back. The other boy's fate had been unknown other than the fact that he'd made it outside of the vampire city. Slowly, as if looking too quickly will make the voice disappear, he turns towards Yuu and there are definitely tears forming in his eyes.] Y-Yuu-chan?

[It's like a switch -- seeing the tears and hearing that voice, yet again... His jawline completely tightens, eyes widening a little more as they begin to glass over with an obvious warning of tears.] It's... I thought you were...! [His shoulders start to shake a little, hands balling into a fist as he suddenly moves forward and closes the space. There's no warning other than that, before he's firmly wrapping his arms around the opposite form. Green eyes tightly close as the tears manage to break free, pouring down his face as he finally finds his voice once again.] You're... alive...! It's really you!

[Fighting an urge to take a step back, Mika is suddenly wrapped up in Yuu's hold. Only after a long second does he remember that right now he's as human as his friend and then he buries his face in the other's neck and holds on tightly to Yuu. Almost instantly Yuu will find that his neck is getting wet. At some point Yuu is going to realize that he has both arms but for now, he's going to cling as if his life depends on it. Mika isn't strong enough to push him away a second time.] Yuu-chan. You're here! Why are you here? [He tries to sound angry but fails miserably.]

[It does dawn on him that he has both arms trapped, but... for a moment, he doesn't honestly care. It's not until it finally dawns on him that Mika's... crying, he pulls back just enough to look at him. Maybe some part of him is expecting to suddenly see the other covered in blood... to see that... that bastard appearing and taking his entire family all over again. But, it's... different from those nightmares. For once, Mika is... actually here. He's actually alive and right here. With a tear-stained face, he manages a smile of total relief and just pure... happiness to see his family, again. While taking just a quick moment to wipe at the tears, he almost gives a weak laugh at that question.] ...Leave it to you to jump to a question like that. [It's a pretty... bad attempt at lightening the mood.]

[Mika doesn't want to pull away yet, doesn't want to let go but he does shift back so that he can look at Yuu, though he is a bit blurry through his tears. There's a smile on Yuu's face and it's the most beautiful thing he's seen yet. At the same time, he can't bring himself to return it because it would just be sad and broken so he just buries his face again. His words this time are more muffled and there's warm familiarity in them.] You're an idiot, Yuu-chan.

[There's honestly a faint desire to just... reach out and squish Mika's cheeks, ruffle his hair, or... just outright punch him in the arm. Anything to get him to stop... looking at him that way (and to maybe aid him in feeling a little more like this is real). Instead, however, he ends up giving a quiet laugh -- one filled with a twinge of relief, beneath all the desire to cry a little more.] I'm an idiot...? You're the one still crying over this! [There's not even the tiniest bit of anger or... even annoyance in his tone.] Crybaby... [And yet... he's lifting a hand to rest it on the back of Mika's head, a smaller smile surfacing as he sighs.] It's really good to see you again... Mika...

[He is not afraid to hit, though it wouldn't be all that hard considering Mika is still extremely glad that they're together again. Though he might not be too adverse to the hair ruffling even if it was done to tease. Mika can tell that Yuu is trying to lighten the mood and he uses one hand to push the other - albeit too lightly to actually separate them.] You're the one who started it! [There's a slight huffiness to his tone even as he sighs at the feel of the hand on his head. He lets them have this moment for a bit longer before bringing up something important.] Do you think there are vampires here? Do you think HE'S here?

[He gives a small smirk and pushes Mika back, using about as much force as the other boy. It's... rather short-lived, however. When he hears that question, he tenses - something Mika will definitely be able to notice. Without thinking, he's outright digging his fingertips into the blond, with how firmly he's clutching onto the back of his shirt. That's... something he's definitely thought about. It's something that had been one of his bigger fears: is this really just some new kind of vampire city? Is it all just some trick? The possibilities are endless when one has an active imagination...] ...If there are, we'll have to find a way to get rid of them. I'll... find a way to keep us safe. [His tone lowers, going completely serious.] I have my family back... I'm not letting anything h-... [There's a hint of strain in his tone.] ...Anything else happen to you. Just... [He falls quiet, letting that barely-started sentence drop.]

[Mika bites at his bottom lip in worry. If Ferid or Krul or any other vampires are here, then this place really won't be much better than Sanguinem. Even if they're supposedly prisoners here too. He releases his hold on Yuu but not for long. One hand reaches for Yuu's so they aren't too caught up in such a vulnerable position.]
We could use those weird phone-things to ask. [That might be too dangerous though.] Or not ask. If Ferid's here he'd recognize my voice.

Any idea how to use it? [He'd kind of... impatiently half-listened to everything those guys said, since his initial instinct resulted in him defiantly storming out of that room... Unlike Mika (who he assumes actually took in as many details as possible, seeing as he's the...calmer one), Yuu has a tendency to only focus on one main goal at a time. Maybe that makes him an idiot, but he would rather give everything to accomplish what he needs to. How can he do that, if part of his focus is on something else entirely? In any case, he's already fidgeting with his, trying to figure out which buttons do what.]

[Both arms wrap around one of Yuu's, making it easier for him to play with the device and he was sort of paying attention to the instructions. Really it was quite difficult when Mika had suddenly found himself human again but how hard can it be to figure out? He half-leans against Yuu and watches him fiddling with it, then points out one of the buttons.]
That one should let us call other people. [He looks up at Yuu, hesitantly.] Should I do it? If Ferid's here then he'd only know I was here and not you too.

[He doesn't mind his arm being held captive, at least... he doesn't respond to it beyond very briefly pressing one hand against Mika's forearm. He's trying to keep his thoughts away from... him. That vampire who stole everything from his family. The one he had...watched die... or. Or so he'd thought...? With a heavy exhale, he resumes his inspection of the device. It's not long before he's blinking at the button that gets pointed out. With the ghost of a smile, he nods.] Right. [He then stares at the blond for a long while; there's a lot of worry in his own eyes, even as he tries to keep a firm expression. He's not worried for himself... not as much as he is for Mika, by a long shot. After a moment, he looks down and speaks in a tone that's as firm and stubborn as he can possibly manage.] I'll do it. Let me... [He's practically glaring at the floor of the dome as he says the next line.] It's my turn to protect you, so don't try to stop me.

[There's a lot they need to really talk about but not here - not out in the open where anyone can hear them. And Mika needs to find a way to stay like this, as a human. So that he can stay by Yuu's side. He has a day to figure out how. Right now he can only stare back when the other boy looks at him, feeling displeased with that smile and the worry he sees. Mouth opens to protest Yuu going on the network but he knows there's no way that he can really win this particular fight. Especially not with that last line. Just because he's letting Yuu do it, doesn't mean he has to be happy about it. Which means his words come out a little huffy.] Fine, but don't do anything stupid or I'll make you stop.

[He does want to clear the air... figure out how Mika's...still alive. Not to mention, there's the matter of Yuuichiro wanting to tell his friend about Guren and the othere, and about how they took him in and promised to help him kill the bloodsuckers... but that can wait right now, can't it?] ...Heh. [His expression actually brightens a little at Mika agreeing. For once... he can actually protect his family. It will never make up for him being unable to keep his family safe... last time, but...] Hey, what kind of stupid stuff could I possibly do with this thing? [Actually, he doesn't want Mika to answer that...]

[In response Mika gives him a LOOK to ensure that Yuu gets it because they both know he can be all kinds of stupid sometimes. He holds his tongue otherwise and shuffles one... two steps away while still hanging on to Yuu's arm with both hands. Hopefully Yuu doesn't mind the fact that he's clingy and unwilling to let go because the fear of the other disappearing is very real. But this way his face won't show up on the video so Yuu can pretend he's alone. Then he nods to show that he's ready.]

Video - Open

[Yuuichiro's smile turns a little sheepishly wry, but he's looking away before Mika will get a chance to see it. After clearing his throat, he glances back to see if the blond is ready... and sees the nod. With a heavy sigh, he hits the button... and doesn't say anything for a moment. His face is still stained a little with tears, his eyes are still red, and slightly poofy... In short, he looks like a mess. When he finally opens his mouth to speak, his voice doesn't quite match; there's an unwavering determination within it:]

I want to know what everyone here knows about vampires... [There's not a greeting, because... he honestly isn't trying to make friends. This is all going to be straight to the point, for the sake of getting as much information as quickly as possible.]

Are there any in this place? And... [He glances down for a moment.] Is there anybody here from a place called Japan?

Action - Open

[To keep himself from appearing in the video, Mika simply squeezes Yuu's arm - a little in comfort and support. There isn't anything Mika feels the need to add or stop Yuu from saying. It seems to be pretty simple - not telling of their tragedy or revealing who he was or who was with him. Probably the best two twelve year olds can do at the moment.

One blond boy clinging to the arm of a dark haired kid - this is how anyone will find them should they come wandering around the Butterfly Pavillion.]

[Zero hears the two amongst themselves before he really sees them. Which isn't anything unusual. Although he stops for the moment, there's no guessing that they're very newly arrived. However it's something else that catches more of his attention: what exactly their conversation is about, as well as the way they both were crying. As well as just how young they seem to be. He isn't aware of just how many children there may even be in Marina.

There, too is how one of them is a vampire. The feel of it is somewhat off, but he only guesses because newcomers are 'stripped' of anything that otherwise is nonhuman, or possessing anything that the average person doesn't. What it doesn't do, however (so far as he at least assumes), is completely turn the individual human, through and through. Already he's curious about that boy.

When he does begin to make his way over, Zero has already (and easily) decided that he won't let on at all that he hard more than they intended to hear over the network.

He frowns a little upon stopping in front of them. Calmly, though, he speaks. He doesn't want to straight up scare or unsettle them any further than they are.]

I know about them. There are also a few vampires here from a couple of different places.

[Further ask about that as they wish. The whole part about "different worlds" can be a lot to even comprehend.

He pauses.]

I'm from Japan. A number of others, here, are as well.

[A voice comes and it's not over the device Yuu has. It's closer and looking up provides Mika with his first glance at Zero.

At an adult and his first thought is that he's a vampire because there are no adults left in the world. Zero's hair color does not help at all in the fact that it reminds him of Ferid.

So his breath catches in his throat and he steps back from the individual. Mika tugs on Yuu's captured arm roughly to get the other boy to move with him away from the stranger. And to also alert Yuu that there is actually someone near them and get his attention away from the communicator.

Mika doesn't actually have the capability to say anything in response to this man but he's scared while attempting to keep Yuu safe in the process.]

[The second he hears that voice, his back goes rigid. Even before Mika is tugging on his arm, he's turning his head towards that stranger. As he narrows his eyes and opens his mouth, he finds himself being tugged back... which he doesn't outright try and stop. All of his focus is on watching the man closely.

...The last time he saw that hair color, it was stained with blood.

Silently, he lifts a hand to rest it on one of Mika's. In the same moment, he turns so that his body is between Mika and the stranger.
] ...What do you know about them?

[In spite of his entire body being tense, there's really no... fear. He's not afraid of this stranger... if only because he knows he will find a way to keep Mika safe. There's absolutely no way he will lose his family a second time, even if it means he has to die trying. The main feeling that is prominent within him right now... is sheer determination.]

[There still is no questioning them. Even through that determination, though, fear lingers regardless. That sort of emotion isn't so easily masked.

He makes no intent to move closer, nor does he make any gestures otherwise. How he's innocent and the like. It's displayed in his voice.]

As I said, it depends on where they're from.

[But there still are the basics.]

They drink blood. They don't do well in sunlight. They have inhuman senses, accelerated healing, possess traits such as inhuman speed and strength, and are difficult to wound and kill.

[He feels it - the tensing of Yuu's muscles from where he's gripping the other boy's arm. They're both on alert even though Mika knows there's no escaping if this man is a vampire. Ferid already showed them that outrunning a vampire was impossible.

Once he's sure Yuu is watching the man, Mika's eyes dart away searching for something - anything - that could be used as a weapon. All there is are rocks. If a gun wasn't enough to keep Ferid down then a rock would be laughable to attack with. He isn't completely against the idea, though.

Mika barely pays attention as Yuu asks a question and when the man starts to talk but his gaze rushes back at "drink blood". One hand squeezes Yuu's arm unconsciously. His thoughts instantly go back to the kid Krul had put before him and told him to drink from but they don't dare dwell there when a potential threat is so close.

Finally he seems to find his voice.]
How many vampires?

How many are here? [That's an important question.]

What does that even mean?! [Is his initial response to the stranger saying that it depends on where they're from. Of, course... he does get that the man's saying that there are vampires from "other places" -- he simply can't imagine that location could...change them all that much? Not to mention, there's the matter of him not quite grasping the idea that there could be other worlds...

Mika's question has him glancing back to his friend. That's... definitely a good one to ask. Looking back to the stranger, he gives a firm expression, as though he half expects him to refuse to answer.

There's one other question he needs to ask, too... and he doesn't even wait for the answers to the other ones:
] What are you?

[It's a predictable question. All three of them. Even in general the part about those "different places" is plenty confusing; Zero, himself, still feels dumbfounded at times. He's accepted the fact, but it's a bizarre notion to completely wrap his head around.

However, that isn't what matters right now.]

It means what you think it might mean. All of us here. . . we're from varying worlds, and even points in time. Some are here alone, while others have people they know from home along with them. Like the two of you, for example, and myself along with three others from where I'm from.

[All right. Easy question out of the way.]

There are five of them.

[Himself, Yuuki, Ai, Spike, and Damon. He isn't positive, however. There may be a couple more.]

I'm a vampire hunter. In my world, us hunters are capable of sensing the presence of vampires. We're able to do a number of things.

[There's a lie within the truth. He's adjusted, here, to the fact that plenty of people already knew he was a vampire when he first arrived, if only due to having been here before, however it doesn't mean that he advertises it to new people.

. . .And from what he's heard these two talking about, there's absolutely no way he can let them in on there being another side of him. It leaves Zero to be acutely aware of not allowing his fangs to show.]

[Mika is confused by the idea of being in another world, that there are others from different ones and silently he attempts to figure it out. It doesn't quite seem like when they were taken from the surface down into the underground city but that's the only thing he can compare it to at the moment.

Well, the only real thing that's ever happened to him.

Even if there was something Mika was going to say in response to the explanation of the world or how many vampires are about it all gets caught in his throat when the words "vampire hunter" hangs in the air. His eyes widen and he stares straight at Zero, his heart threatening to pound right out of his chest as a voice internally screams "he knows!" inside of his head.

Blue eyes dart to the back of Yuu's head and he almost chokes on a lump that formed. That's when Mika drops Yuu's arm and steps back three times - away from Zero and away from the other boy.

He's a vampire and that's a vampire hunter. That man is here to kill him and Mika won't let Yuu get hurt in the process. Finally he finds his voice.]

P-please. Don't hurt him. He's not... [Tears spring up anew.] It's not Yuu-chan.

[The admittance is firm, defiant even. Defying the hunter to challenge the claim when Mika is speaking the truth.]

[The sudden coldness of his arm is the most noticeable thing to alert him that it's been released. With widened eyes, he quickly turns and gives a concerned look to his best friend.] ...Mika?

[What... does he mean by that? What isn't him? He's not what? But, he doesn't ask those aloud. Instead, he's quickly turning to glare harshly at the hunter. What the hell did he say to upset Mika?! His words are practically growled out:] You should get the hell out of here...

[Well... ...] But, before you do, I want to know the names of every vampire here! And... ...is there any way at all to get weapons in this place?

Zero~

[Opening the door to the butterfly pavilion, Yuuki's sing song voice drifts inside, her head peeking around the corner. She's had an eventful start to the day, but is hungry now, and thinks that she can probably rope someone into making something delicious for them to eat. There's really no shame. Anyway, she's happy to wander into the pavilion. Whenever she needs to think, she either retreats to work, or here. Although, she's surprised to realize that Zero isn't alone.]

Hello...? [Is she interrupting...? Moving inside quietly, she's shocked by the scene. Two children, looking more than a little worse for the wear, both seemingly scared and upset. Her brown eyes dance over them, to Zero, and back down again.]

Zero! What are you doing, making two kids cry!?

[Inserting herself into the situation, she glances back and forth between the children, and is-- temporarily surprised to realize one of them isn't human. With a glance to the dark haired boy, her attention shifts to the vampire child, who seems to be the one most out of sorts in the moment.]

Hey... it's all right. [Gently, in a calming voice. They're new, and she'd be able to tell even without the jumpsuits. It's... maddening and offensive to think that the wardens would bring children so young.] This big scary guy isn't going to hurt you or anything. I promise. [And in the end, she already knows Zero probably didn't say much to set this scene off. They're just scared and vulnerable right now. Understandably so.]

My name is Yuuki. I woke up in this place in the past just like you two. I'm on the defense force, and I promise, I wont let anything scary happen to you. And neither will he. Can we help you? We can get you something to drink and eat, and to find a change of cloths that's more comfortable than the jumpsuit. Anything you like right now.

[In retrospect Zero knows probably too well that he's said a few things that he shouldn't have. Because it's all too clear of just how badly these two are taking it all. He should have taken more note of what they had been speaking about before he had approached.

And so he'll leave if it's wanted of him. —Except when he's asked to name the other vampires, he realizes just how much he's put himself into a catch-22 position.]

The best luck you'll have is acquiring a kitchen knife. [Unless they had a weapon of sorts back home. They they could earn it back.

Zero couldn't be more grateful for Yuuki's appearance than he is right now, although he did feel as she neared the pavilion.]

She's right. We're not here to hurt anyone. [He starts.] It's the opposite. We're only wanting to help you both. We know how it is to suddenly awake in this strange place.

[He glances to Yuuki again, only giving here a look. If she overheard any of their conversation thus far, then she'll get why. Although even if not, that voiceless regard is that she needs to be more than hyper-aware of what she says. . . while also letting her fangs show.

He has faith in her, with their knowing each other through and through, that she'll catch on.]

The vampires here. . . [He knows this is taking (another) risk, but-] I assure you that it's only their attitudes which have been antagonistic.

[His eyes are darting back and forth between Yuu and Zero - though he finds he can't actually look straight at his friend. The other boy will blame himself, he knows that.

Then suddenly there's another person and of course he thinks that she too must be a hunter if she knows the one already in front of them. This is it, he's dead. They've come to kill him. Mika takes another step away from Yuu even as the girl scolds the man.

Now he isn't letting the two of them out of his sight. It isn't that he wants to die now that he's been reunited with Yuu but he doesn't want them to think that Yuu is a vampire too.

Honestly it's a little hard to believe that they're both trying to help. Mika doesn't even know for sure if the lady is a vampire hunter too but he knows for sure the man in.]

You're a vampire hunter, you hunt vampires.... [His fists grab at the orange jumpsuit.] I'm a vampire.

But you can't hurt Yuu-chan! He isn't-- [Hiccup] a vampire too!

[He's starting to wonder if they're just going to wind up finding themselves surrounded by random adults, at this rate. Is this woman a hunter, too? It might make sense, considering how she seems to be so familiar with the man. It's actually kind of comforting, to think that they're both hunters. But... also kind of strange. In spite of the way Mika's acting right now, he can't help but notice that the woman is really... comforting.

Zero and Yuuki... maybe... they're not bad people? Or maybe Yuuichiro is just that desperate for there to be people he could trust in this place, aside from Mika. He's giving a contemplative look around the time his friend starts talking again. His eyes outright widen at three particular words: I'm a vampire.

Just like that, he seems to momentarily go into shock. Both hands tighten into fists to the point where they're trembling, and it's almost as though his body has become so rigid, even his lungs refuse to move. When he finally figures out how to breath again, there's a loud whoosh of air escaping him.

His throat suddenly feels dry, but he manages to work past that for the sake of speaking.
] M-... Mika, why are you... saying things like that? You can't-... but you're not-...

[But even as he's stumbling through those words, it dawns on him that... it only makes sense, considering the extent of the injuries that bastard inflicted on Mika. His teeth clench together and he takes a step back, away from the blond. It's not an act of him trying to move away, but the sudden relaxing of his body nearly caused him to fall. There's the sound of laughter.

It's the kind of laughter that's given in place of crying, however. The kind that's only released from a person when they've realized the bitter irony of a situation. The kind of self-loathing, self-blaming laughter of a twelve-year-old boy who realizes that he... really had let his entire family die -- one of them simply died in a way that curses him to live the same fate as the one who slaughtered the Hyakuya children...

His voice is small as he gives the blond a deeply apologetic look:
] I'm... sorry... It's all my fault. If I had just-...

[He's crying again, though the tears are barely started when he seems to remember that there are two other people -- two... hunters? He's not going to bother trying to figure it out, however, before he's spinning around and glaring at them. A fierce kind of glare filled with determination and a need to protect the blond.] I don't care... what he is. Mika's nothing like them! If you try laying so much as a finger on him--

[His arms are outstretched as though that could possibly make a difference.] --I'll kill you.

[The start of everything here eluded Yuuki, but she didn't have to overhear the beginning of the conversation to grasp things now. The sheer desperation and pain reflected in both their faces is heart wrenching, only doubled by their intense determination to protect one another.

The terror in the blonde as he desperately makes a case to defend his friend paints terror upon his face. As her eyes slide back to the side to watch the darker haired child, protective determination is reflected in his. Like an animal with it's back up against a wall or protecting it's young, he moves forward as though he has nothing else left to lose.

And maybe he doesn't.

What could have possibly happened to these children to have both in such a distraught state? But in the end she knows it isn't necessary for them to tell her. Vampires, of some kind, have changed their lives. And by their appearance and state, it hasn't been for the better. It plants a deep seed of frustration and anger within the pit of her stomach. Vampires who would take advantage of or hurt a child are despicable, and deserve to be black listed.

How dare anyone.

But this small blonde boy, almost around the same height as her, and his friend, are innocent.]

It's okay. [Softly, gently, in a soothing voice as though a mother talking to their young child. They're scared, and confused, and right now the only thing she wants is to help calm and assure them] It's going to be okay. [Truly, for as long as they're both here. Moving forward despite his threat, she wraps her arms around the boy nearest her, and pulls him into an embrace.]

No one will hurt your friend. No one here will hurt you either. I promise. It's okay. I understand, whatever happened to you both, it's not the fault of either one of you.

[There's nothing in her hands, and no visible weapons to frighten them with.]

I'm not a hunter. [The farthest thing from it.] And the man here with us would never hurt a child, vampire or not. He only polices people who have tried to hurt someone. [Which neither one of these children have. Looking back up to the child who had been shielded from her, she finds his eyes, gaze full of nothing if not sincerity and concern. She holds a hand out for him to come forward if he will.]

I promise. You're going to be okay. I'm not scared of you. And I absolutely wont hurt you either. Tell me what I can do to help you both.

[She's practically said it all for him already. That they'll be okay, that they won't hurt either of them, how both of them only want to help. Zero knows all too well the fear and trauma (and anger alike) that comes along with a vampire who takes away everything that you are, and all that you have. He knows what it's like to believe that you have nothing left to lose.

. . .Or at least almost everything, if there's going off of just how fiercely defensive they both are of each other.

Zero wants to add on to her comment of how it is neither of their faults, but there's only so much that he really can which will make it much better at the moment.]

She's right.

[ -is what he'll start with instead. Yuuki is providing the two boys with something they really may need right now, regardless of if they accept it.]

I'm a hunter. Where she and I are from, though. . . [His brows knit. He obviously cannot say that he knows about their world, but there's enough just by bow they're reacting that he can tell.] Where we're from vampires aren't killed on the spot. The only way that happens is if they actually do something deserving of it— like hurting others.

[For some reason it's challenging to keep their gaze the entire time.]

You've done absolutely nothing wrong, not even in the slightest. We're not going to lay a hand upon you. Not now, and not ever. [It's something he feels is just the truth. Neither seem like they could ever cause an issue at all.] I promise you both that.

[He knows that is something Yuuki has already said, but this time, it's worth repeating.]

[Out of everything it's Yuu's reaction that hurts the most. Since he isn't looking at the other boy fully, all Mika catches out of the corner of his eye is that Yuu moves back - away from him. Yuu hates him now because he's a vampire... because he's like them.

The words of disbelief are something he imagined Yuu saying and there is nothing Mika can say to make it better. There is no going back to being a human even if the bracelet seems to have made it that way for the day. No matter how much he might want it, he's forever doomed to be a vampire and now Yuu will tell him he hates him.

When the laughter comes from the other boy, Mika winces visibly. His eyes dart around the pavilion to see if there's a way out - a way that doesn't take him passed Yuu or the two adults. Though maybe it would be better if he was dead. Still, he doesn't want Yuu to have to witness it like they watched the killing of their family. Either way, he doesn't want to hear it when Yuu yells that he hates Mika now too.

What he doesn't expect are for the next words to be an apology. It throws him off enough that Mika stops looking for an escape route. Besides, last time he'd tried this feeble plan it had ended badly. His mouth opens soundlessly once before swallows a lump in his throat and trying again.]
It's not Yuu-chan's fault. I made you...

[He remembers feeling weak, laying on the floor with an arm missing - Mika lifts his left hand to grasp at his upper right arm where it had been slice off. Maybe he shouldn't feel this way but it's almost strange that his arm is intact.

Yuu's declaration makes Mika's head snap up and he finally looks at the other boy fully, eyes wide. The relief Mika feels when the boy makes it clear that he doesn't hate him is overwhelming. His knees actually give out on him and he sinks to the floor, sobbing into his hands and quietly mumbling to himself:]
Yuu-chan doesn't... hate me...

[He doesn't look up again until Yuuki speaks up and everything is blurry through his tears so but he can see her moving towards Yuu. Throughout her words, Mika says nothing and he can make out her hand extended towards him but even if he wanted to, he couldn't make it over there. It was fine with Yuu... but that was because he was so determined to not hurt the other boy ever again. But what if that doesn't happen with the lady? What if it was like how he'd face the situation back in Sanguinem with Krul?

It isn't until Zero also says that hurting others is why he kills vampires that he pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and chews on it. The rules are different. In Sanguinem a vampire wasn't supposed to drink from the children (though Ferid broke that law often) but it didn't prevent them from getting hurt in other ways. So what counts as "hurting others" exactly? Mika would never hurt another child, and he didn't want to hurt humans either but....]

I bit the lady who made me a vampire. [Does that count as hurting others? The question is evident in his tone.]

[There had been a lot of things he expected after tossing out that threat. Were they going to ignore him and go after Mika? Were they going to attack them both, since Yuuichiro's fighting to protect a bloodsucker? What he couldn't have expected, is what winds up happening.

Which is why his entire body tenses up when he feels those gentle arms wrap around him. She's... trying to comfort him? Green eyes stare straight ahead for a moment, even as she explains herself and tries -- yet again -- to reassure the two boys. Then, Zero's talking, but by that point... even more tears are streaming down Yuuichiro's face. After clenching his teeth together in his efforts to stop crying, a loud sob breaks free. He's wrapping both arms around the woman, and then burying his face against her shoulder.

The next words a escaping from him before he can even hope to stop them:
] He's all I have left... Even if he's a vampire, I can't lose him, too... That... that sick bastard already killed the rest of my family!!! I can't--... [His voice is just barely a whisper, if that. It's almost whimpered out between the sobs.] I don't wanna be all alone, again...

[When the sobs finally fade, his crying finally coming to a stop... he pulls back enough to turn and look at Mika. The blond is on his knees. Yuuichiro's expression is a mixture of strained and... exhausted, honestly. Gently, he moves to tug free of Yuuki's hold. Without saying a word, he moves over to the blond-haired boy and tugs him into a hug.] I think... they really wanna help us, Mika... We should let them.

[He's glancing back to the two adults.] Maybe... [He looks back to Mika, the ghost of hope entering his eyes.] Maybe we can find a way to change you back...

[Kitty looks curiously at him.] Why do you want to know about vampires? [Why do you look even younger than the last one?]

[...Well, that's certainly a question he doesn't feel comfortable with answering. It's for that reason, he doesn't even hesitate to respond with:] I have my reasons.

[His eyes shift away from the camera, and he sighs.] So, do you not know anything about them, then?

I know a few things. I just don't know why I'd share any of it with you. We might be at an impasse.

[The second sentence earns a huff-like sigh. He's prepared to tell her to just forget it, since he doesn't have time to deal with this, right now.

But the last word is what manages to stop that. Right now, he can't just turn and ask Mika, since they're trying to keep him completely out of the picture.
]

A what?

Deadlock. Stalemate.

Listen, whatever reason you want to know about the vampires here, [And, yes, she'll go ahead and imply that there are some here.] you should know that they may not be anything like the ones you're familiar with for good or bad.

[Oh boy.... He looks so young. Bonnie can't quite mask her concern.]

What exactly do you want to know? Not all of them play by the same rules.

The same rules...? What do you mean?

You have people from all sorts of worlds, right? So their vampires are different too.

I can tell you about the kind that I know, but it might not be super helpful.
