[Now this machine is completely different from either of the communicators that she had been given before. More complex in design, but thankfully simpler, at least in her opinion. Much few buttons to navigate. The person coming onto the video is pale, long dark hair—sorely in need of a good washing—falling about her face, left eye covered by an eyepatch looks a bit worse for wear, if usable. She’s smiling, unsure, but hoping she comes across as genial.]

Ah…hello? I don’t know how many people there are here already, but um…it’s nice to meet you all. My name is Miranda and…I’m not quite sure how these crimes are possible. I haven’t quite had the time to be a criminal and some of these ah…incidents were not intentional in the least. But as I doubt there is much I can do to change the mind of the wardens…do they um…allow us to do things...on our own?

[It’s been so long since she had a good bath and even longer since she had any kind of privacy, but if this place is anything like where she’s been before, she doesn’t expect that. She's trying to sound calm and easy, but her voice wavers just a bit.] If so, I-I would be very grateful if someone would direct me to the nearest washroom...an-and the stairs if you don't mind. I can't seem to find any and the door won't open.

[Someone maybe woke up floating on the island.]

[Action]
[She wants to learn her new surroundings, so completely different from where she's been recently that it's a bit overwhelming at first. She stands and looks and doesn't know which way to go in. But once she's moving it's like she has to see everything. She is moving all over the dome, stopping at the various places that she has access to. There's a beach, a library, a museum, and even a store full of animals! And she will be definitely taking advantage of the hot springs. The spa seems a little too...fancy for her, but hot water and a good soak help her feel a lot better about the situation.

It's when she sees the graveyard that she takes a pause, standing at the end of the area, but not entering. Considering how vast this place is, she's not surprised as she should be--not anymore--to see one, but it makes this place all the more...real. This isn't a dream. It's not another experiment by Val or the scientists. If it was, there would be so many more gravestones, she would think.]

[Damon isn't the type of vampire to hang around graveyards; he considers it ridiculously melodramatic. Maybe he'll do it on Halloween sometimes, to scare the crap out of some stupid teenagers before he eats them, but that's about it.

So he's not at the graveyard because he particularly wants to be; he's at the graveyard because he's puzzled. What on earth is a graveyard doing in a prison like this?

He catches sight of a young woman hovering nearby, and while he isn't feeling friendly — when does he ever feel friendly? — he's still starved enough for companionship that he will talk to strangers. Shocker.]

Looking for someone?

[Considering the sober area and how quiet it had been, Miranda is a bit startled to be jerked out of her thoughts by someone speaking to her. She jumps just a bit, spinning around to look at him and her hand coming up to her breast.]

Oh goodness! [It comes out as a bit of a gasp, bit of squeak.] I--I'm sorry? No, I'm not--I mean, there's no one here.

Sorry, didn't mean to frighten you. [It's a half-lie; he didn't mean to scare her, but he's quite pleased that he did.]

So what brings you to a gloomy graveyard if you don't know anybody here?

It's fine. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just--getting used to this. [She motions around with her hand to signify the entirety of the area beyond the graveyard. Her cheeks are still a bit red from the embarrassment of reacting as she did.]

Ah...Well. I wasn't looking for a particular person, but...well, I was just...confirming what my eyes have been seeing, is all.

Well, your eyes have indeed seen a graveyard. Why it's here is another question entirely. Kind of a boring question, though, I wouldn't worry about answering it.

I take it you're new here?

[She nods because it's pretty obvious and why would she lie about it?] New, yes, but I've been in situations not so unlike this? I think! I wouldn't want to claim they were the same.

[Because the station by the end was very much in disrepair with only what few bots they had cleaning what they could and not everything being put to rights if they didn't do it themselves.]

How long have you been here, if--if you don't mind me asking?

Forever, a few days — I haven't really been keeping count. [He gives a yawn of exaggerated indifference.]

But really, you've been in situations like this? I would love to hear more. [He's looking for insight in how to get out.]

No? [Miranda is terrible at talking about herself. She prefers hearing about other people. But he asked a question that deserves an answer.] I mean, yes, it's similar, but not exact. Haven was in great disrepair...on purpose, I would think. But it did have a dome! An invisible one.

So how did you know it was a dome?

Because we could touch it. It was like a great wall going around the town on the outside. You couldn't just...push it or break it but you could try. The only way to get around it was through the tunnels but it led to another village that was also blocked in.

[She lets out a small sigh.] It was very frustrating.

How'd you get out then? [Because that's really Damon's priority. He's got a girlfriend to get back home to, after all.]

Out? We...We didn't. We couldn't yet. When we tried, things would get worse because our resources--what little we had--would suffer.

[And when you were lucky to get one meal a day, that was something you have to keep in mind while trying to survive and plan for future escape.]

So the Wardens took you out of there and brought you here? [That is less than helpful.]

Um...yes? Not that I have much to complain for. Everyone's been very kind so far and there's plenty to eat.

[And she was saved from being put into "storage" or whatever that is.]

Is it truly that horrid here?
