[It's been much easier to get Soushi out and about today. There may be a reason for it, but Kazuki doesn't bother trying to figure it out. He's far, far too at ease for that kind of thing.

With their hands laced, Kazuki practically is dragging him all around. He's already mentioned Soushi to a few of the friends he's made here. It's about time that he introduce them. Although of course meeting new people is good, too.]

[It's quite possible that Soushi has never once witnessed him in such a happy mood, and that's saying quite a lot. To be honest it's kind of embarrassing, with Kazuki often catching himself.

So far the day has been going very well, too, ever since waking up. At some point they looked into taking one of the boats out, thankful that the bots were around to run it.

Later on at some point and they're on the ferris wheel- something he really had only ever heard about. Curious as he is, Kazuki can't help but stand near and gazing out the window. He's of course been much further up in the air than this, but never had the time to take in the view. Piloting isn't at all meant for that sort of thing, or enjoyment in general. So this is plenty special.]

[The way it is is fine. He doesn't mind doing the research - finds it calming actually. If there was something he needed to find out and fast then he would ask for help but time is something he has in abundance sometimes. Especially here. Really, he should get a job or something but there hasn't been anything to catch his attention yet.

Soushi squeezes Kazuki with the arm drawn across his shoulders. Shifts so that one foot is in between Kazuki's which allows him to stand closer comfortably.

He can practically hear the silent question in the two syllables of his name but all he replies with is:]

Hm?

[Maybe he too isn't sure of what to say which is possible considering people and relationships were never something he was good with dealing with.]

[There are too many things at the tip of his tongue. He knew Soushi would respond in that way, but there's nothing that Kazuki can get out. "Is this really okay?", "Can we stay like this?" Not asking, maybe just out of fear that whatever it is, it'll break this comfortable silence. The way they are being something he could sink into and never want to crawl back out.]

What should we do after this?

[-is what he finds himself deciding on. There may be more than one way to answer, but he'll take what Soushi gives.]

[In the same way there are so many things that he could say in response to that question. He could suggest they participate in another activity, or that they should go back to the hut they're staying in or just stay here until dawn and watch what counts as a sunrise here.]

Whatever you want. [His words are quiet, whispered and murmured against Kazuki's neck.

Most of the day he's allowed Kazuki to take him all over the place, no need for that to change now.]

[It's a good answer, he thinks. It goes both ways. He really has been having fun bringing Soushi all around with him. Not that they didn't already spend a lot of time together, but still. This Dome has been far more entertaining, as well as relaxing. And they don't know how long it will last. So of course he wants the two of them to explore.

He feels even warmer, still, with the actions behind Soushi's reply. Kazuki has found himself closing his eyes despite the ongoing fireworks display.]

I guess we could go back, then.

[Again spoken to the back of Soushi's hand, this time smiling a bit. This time a bit more bold, now that he knows it will be received well.

Right about then does the wheel begin to move again.]

[They have another day to fill with outdoor activities but he is slightly glad to be calling it a day. It's a wonder that he didn't end up with a sunburn with how long he was outside. Nothing like ending a long day in the privacy of their "vacation home".

Ah well, it's not as if fireworks are anything too special. They have them back home for special occasions.]

Then that's what we'll do.

[He steps back, tugging Kazuki with him until the back of his knees bump into one of the seats. Then proceeds to sit down and pulls Kazuki down with him.]

[Kazuki likes their temporary residence. They've lived on an island their entire lives, but actually living right upon the water is neat. Although the idea of a tree house could be fun as well. . . .Well, at least to Kazuki. The mental image of Soushi coming and going from one is almost enough to make him laugh out loud. Their time spent up in the ferris wheel has been plenty satisfying.

He settles down, flush up against Soushi's side, not wanting to break contact even though they're still holding hands.

Once they're down and outside again, he just grins a bit.]

So what'd you think? It wasn't as exciting as I imigined, but still neat. [. . .] And it didn't break down on us. [See?]

[It's nice for a couple of days but he wouldn't want to live on the water like that all of the time. And a treehouse is definitely out of the question. Traipsing up and down is not something Soushi wants to do on a daily basis - especially not up and down a ladder with a bunch of stuff to carry.

He's quiet the rest of the ride, enjoying the view they'd come on this ride for in the first place - watching the fireworks disappear behind the treetops as they reached the bottom.

Once they're back on solid ground there is obvious relief as his shoulders loosen up.]

It was alright. The view was nice but it was the company that was the best part of it. [A small scoff at the comment of it not breaking down.] Our island has better maintained equipment then that ferris wheel.

[Yep. It definitely would have been amusing to witness. Maybe he'll take a peek at one anyway. What if he carries you, Soushi?]

Agreed. It wouldn't have been the same without you. [That goes for so many other things as well. He knows Soushi feels the same.] Yeah, but it has to be.

[Such effort goes more so into only what's necessary. They can't be building rides.]

Though it'd be nice to have something like it. The water park has been fun, too.

[What, carry him on your back? No thanks. He could probably manage it at least once a day considering that's how long they'll be here but Soushi does also like the ocean hut they're currently staying in.]

Hm. [There's no real meaning to the sound, just a lazy agreement. On both accounts.]

Maybe someday we'll have the opportunity to build such places back home. It would be nice.

[Soushi starts leading them away from the rides and back to where they're staying.]

Well. Thanks for coming with me, in any case.

[He says even despite knowing Soushi was perfectly fine with it. There still are plenty of things to do around the usual Dome. Today just feels nicer and more relaxed and enjoyable than most.

He'll follow suit after that. The huts aren't very far at all.]

[No, not that he would. But maybe Kazuki could convince his younger, reborn self to go to something like that.]

You don't need to thank me for that. I enjoyed it.

[And he did. While it's definitely something he wouldn't want to do all of the time, every once in a while was fine. There are times when Soushi does take time off to enjoy such things. Like the one day he visited the beach back when they were all fourteen. Sometimes making good memories was essential.

Once they reach the hut, Soushi heads inside just as the fireworks end. It's dark inside, only the rising moon illuminating what it can. He stops abrubtly, not because of the darkness but he shifts until he can look back at Kazuki. Whatever their next move is, he'll let Kazuki make it.]

[That's true. To create a world where there's less heartbreak, or the need to always be ready for an attack, and instead somewhere to fully enjoy life and all it has to offer, is something Kazuki hopes he - and everyone else - can accomplish. For the young Soushi and Miwa, who deserve to simply be kids, while for everyone else as well.

He's more than content with what the two of them have been able to do here, in both Domes. Even though, yes, he's always aware that he shouldn't get too comfortable. Despite how challenging that can be.

Kazuki is almost embarrassed with how hard his heart is (still) pounding, even after the time spent walking back. He notices, too, almost acutely so, how close they've remained, despite it being expected. They've been as such all day. Yet even while that's true, it was far more so within the ferris wheel car.

Gently squeezing his hand, it's Kazuki who steps in close this time. He only meets his eyes before closing the rest of the space between them, (finally) giving in and pressing his lips to Soushi's. Confident, now, as he knows such affection won't be rejected.]

[The future is what they're fighting for - what they're always fighting for. A peaceful future where no one has to face something so terrifying. It wouldn't be perfect but they know they can come close.

Maybe Soushi isn't trying as hard as possible to leave the Dome. He reads and studies and searches for information but he isn't in a hurry to get home. Not when he knows the future - that he'll be there to fight alongside everyone else. As long as they're okay, then he's in no real hurry to leave. Soushi can focus on not just getting himself home but everyone else (who may want to leave) as well.

Ah, his heart hadn't been pounding before but it most certainly is now. Kazuki closes the little bit of distance between them and they connect. It doesn't seem like it'd be much but it is and so much more. Because it's Kazuki. Kazuki who was his best friend as children, who he distance himself from after learning the truth of the world, who he wanted to protect but had to drag into the battle. Kazuki who he was always there with whenever he fought, who ran away in order to understand, who kept him close when he he had nothing else to hold on to. Kazuki who was the first person he saw again, who he went into the unknown with, who was always always by his side even when no one else could see it. Even here and now they were together.

Without Kazuki, he wouldn't be anywhere. There was the simple truth of it. Kazuki was his tether - his everything. He doesn't need anything as much as he needs Kazuki. It hardly matters in what capacity he has Kazuki - just so long as he's there.

Kazuki is the reason for his existence so it only seems right when he takes away his oxygen. He moves until there's no space between them and lifts his free hand to slip into the other's hair. It's so different from the last time he touched Kazuki's hair, though it's just as dark tonight as it was the night he cut it. Watching Kazuki from this distance is impossible so he allows his to close.]

[In contrast, Kazuki really has had others around. People he'll converse with, to call friends and spend time with. He's always been the more social one, even though all at once it had been a habit of his to even keep them at arm's length. If only out of the fear he would hurt them. Which is exactly what had happened with Soushi. Even while he would have left him feeling awful were it anyone else, after that incident with the radio, it was different.

Because it was Soushi. The distance put between them had only been one sided. However it took years for Kazuki to even recognize that. Even while during those years he ached inside, guilt eating away at him, yet all he had to do was reach out again.

In retrospect it made him feel foolish that he had been so worried of rejection. Or, worse, never being forgiven (not that he felt worthy of such).

At some point along the way after that, though, the mutuality between them grew to a point where something like that would never happen again. He isn't whole without him. So naturally, losing Soushi- not just waiting for him, but to truly, permanently lost him, it put an irreparable hole within his heart. His reborn self is someone, as Kazuki even told him, who he cherishes and will do anything for. . . but that doesn't mean the two are the same.

Having his Soushi around is more so the reason why he wants to stick around Marina, at least for awhile/ Of course the peace, here, and the endless and opportunities he has are a part of it as well, but it's Soushi's presence that makes it.

His eyes close as well as he exhales into the kiss, quiet and warm, head leaning into the touch. He draws their joined hands around his waist, wanting to be as close as possible.

Just for a moment does it break. He tips his head in to meet Soushi's forehead, eyes still closed as he speaks so quietly.]

Would you believe me if I said I've been wanting to do that all day?

[Collegues, allies - that's what Soushi had while maintaining a cool distance with the others his age. They weren't allowed to know the secrets that lay underneath their town and he couldn't say a word about it. Couldn't tell them what was beyond their sky. Not even Kazuki. They who had shared that voice on the radio together, who were witness to something they shouldn't have known of yet.

Of course he'd never blamed Kazuki for the loss of his sight in one eye, never blamed him that he would never pilot a Fafner because of it. Did he want to? Yes, he had. For the sake of everyone else's innocence - to protect them from the danger that searched for them.

Even when Kazuki started to learn more he kept the other at arm's length - to protect him from what he could. To protect them all. Even if it meant sacrificing his own mental health or life. He would carry all of their burdens if only he could. He knows that he's made Kazuki suffer not once but twice. That he's left him behind but Kazuki was alive to feel that pain at least.

One day they'll leave here too. So why shouldn't they make the most of it while they can? Why shouldn't they live happily? One of them could leave overnight.

So he gives in. He lets the last true barrier between them fall and doesn't particularly care where it might end up at the moment. Maybe they'll regret this in the morning or when they're back in the other Dome but he highly doubts it. Soushi's felt that there was always something there between them and it's grown stronger every day.

When Kazuki pulls him by his arm, he goes. Pressing into the other as much as he currently can, trails his fingers through soft, short strands, breathes in the taste of Kazuki.

And then it ends. Not ends, it stills for the moment. Becomes something at rest with the potential for ripples and waves. There are words that cause the upward curve of his mouth.]

Yes, I would. You aren't terribly difficult to figure out.

[The moment he did begin to learn about the true state of things, and then to further realize what Soushi went through, he began to ache. Even while there was nothing the other was at fault for. Instead it led Kazuki try, even desperately, to understand his friend. He may have taken extreme measures, which both caused and gotten him into trouble, but it isn't anything he can look back on and regret. No one has time to do that even in general.

Right now, especially, he doesn't care to think about all of that. Not with what's going on between them in the present. He's far too content, too at ease with being so wholly wrapped up by Soushi to bother with anything else.

He just looks a little amused himself.]

—Ah. I guess not to you. . .

[Not in the slightest. He does know that in the end, hence the entertainment.

Instead of continue with that train of thought, Kazuki kisses him again, his free hand moving to wrap around Soushi in turn. After a moment his lips part, wanting to take this further.]

[There is no opportunity to respond back to that. His chance is being taken away but honestly there hadn't been much to say anyway. Nothing that was nearly as important as continuing on.

Soushi leans into the kiss, leans into Kazuki until the other is forced to take a step back. His own lips split to allow Kazuki access, though he does curiously swipe his tongue over the other man's bottom lip for a taste.]

[His heart only pounds more, heavy and hard. There's a catch in his breath that causes a quiet, pleased sound to escape him.

He presses deeper into the kiss with that. A second step back is taken when he steadies himself, while at the same time bringing Soushi's arm further around him. As if they still aren't close enough. Kazuki's other hand upon the his back curls a bit into the fabric of his shirt.]

[Soushi captures that breath like it's the last one he'll ever get. Maybe it is. Maybe he'll die right here and now - happily.

He continues to walk them across the room, to where he's certain the bed is from what he memorized of the layout this morning. There is no stopping until the back of Kazuki's legs bump into it and then he proceeds to lean forward to topple the other. All without breaking the kiss.]

[There's only a brief moment of surprise both when the backs of his knees hit the bed, and then the way he tumbles back upon the bed. Instead it has him holding onto Soushi even more.

However the kiss does momentarily break when Kazuki scoots further up the bed. He tugs Soushi up closer immediately after until they're seated facing each other, Kazuki's legs wrapped around his waist. He meets his gaze only for a moment, both hands moving to cup either side of Soushi's face before continuing their kiss.]

[The fall was expected - actually it was planned. Which is why Soushi is prepared to be gripped and pulled down along with Kazuki. He makes sure not to land directly on top of the other, one knee braced on the bed even as he's force to bend down.

Then he proceeds to crawl across the bed, his sandals falling off in the process but he doesn't bother to pick them up like he would back at their other place. Right now he is more interested in the way Kazuki is wrapping around him, tugging him in to continue kissing. Soushi moves in closer until he's tipping them over - Kazuki beneath him and he doesn't stop the movement until he's pressing the other into the mattress with his weight.]

[Kazuki's legs remain hooked around him as he falls back again. However, now his hands move once more as well; both around to Soushi's back, gripping his shirt. It's as though he's being wholly consumed by the other, and all he can do is desire more of it.

He has very little reservations when pulling him closer, while none at all with rolling his hips up against Soushi's. His breath hitches at the sensation of it, unable to prevent the low and near breathless moan.]

[He moves away from Kazuki's mouth to trail hot, wet kisses down his throat instead. When he finds a soft spot of flesh is when Soushi starts nipping and sucking, intending to leave a mark there.

A soft, needy sound escapes him when hips roll up in to his and a hardness rubs against his own. His hand finds Kazuki's hip but doesn't discourage the movement, merely slides up underneath the fabric of his shirt to brush across soft skin.]

[His head tips to the side right as Soushi moves as well. One hand moves upwards, fingers slipping into Soushi's hair, nails lightly scraping against his scalp, which in turn somewhat loosens up the ponytail he had had for most of the day. The other, still upon his back, curls into his shirt just as well.

It feels as though the touch along his side leaves a trail of fire in its wake. His legs tighten a little more as he presses up more, the action making him shiver.]

[A pleased hum comes in response to Kazuki's fingers on his scalp, it's hardly the first time he's experienced this recently but it still feels just a good. In return he takes the opportunity to continue downward until his lips find Kazuki's collarbones and begins pressing kisses there as well.

The hand slides up until it gets caught by the shirt and can go no further and then he moves it between them to explore the expanse of muscles that make up Kazuki's chest. This time when Kazuki presses up with his hips, Soushi presses down to meet him. His hand that's not currently occupied with smooth, flat skin goes down, to Kazuki's knee that's anchored against his side. It too moves up to stroke the other man's thigh, to dip underneath and cup the firm ass of his lover.]
