Day 376 - Open Action
Upon waking up from the dreams, Martha's first thought was she clearly needed therapy. She elected to stay in her flat that day.

The next day she discovered she was out of tea. Perhaps it was time to get back out into the ~~world~~ dome. They were only dreams after all. It's not like anyone else experienced the same things, right?

Her day was much like any other. She started at the Coffee Bean for a quick pick-me-up, then spent some time in Trois park meditating. She did need to get some shopping done as well, both for food and clothes, so she could be found in the various sectors getting things.

Late in the evening, when she was sure Ianto would be gone, she even ventured over to the library to grab a novel or two.

"Well then. Perhaps my answer now isn't all that trustworthy," she responds with a smile. She shrugs then. "As a vampire, I really liked it. I had a lot of fun that night. As the person I am now, I feel like that perhaps paints a black spot on the city. I wouldn't want to live somewhere where going out after dark, or just delivering food meant there was that good of a chance I'd end up dead."

That anyone chooses to live there voluntarily is a mystery, that he sticks around for as long as he does even more so and weirdly enough, he feels a need to defend it a little bit. Yeah, that's not entirely true about it not being personal. This isn't even about Ianto or wanting to make good with his friends. Life's too short to hold a grudge and honestly, he never had a reason to dislike Martha in the first place. She got an apology out of him. That means they're friends now.

Martha actually feels a little ashamed of how pleased that makes her. She honestly finds the fact that she so effortlessly killed a boy repugnant. But any sort of praise about anything feels good, particularly with how low she's been feeling. And the dream also illustrated a point about the difference in what someone is like as a soulless vampire vs. not. It's a lot to think on.

"Mmmmm... Might be a while before you have that sort of fun again. At least with me. I'm rather boring with a soul by your standards."

	"You forget that I'm afflicted too." He taps his chest with a wry smile. Won't be having that kind of fun ever again, thank you so much. Doesn't really want to, can't want to but it was nice to bask in nostalgia for awhile without getting judged for it. His good old days aren't really that palatable to anyone else, it seems. Nope. Not at all palatable in normal times. In fact, Martha can't quite handle the feelings of joy fighting with the feelings of horror when she thinks back on that dream. Because it had been fun while it was happening.

Martha looks over at Spike again. "It definitely gave me perspective I didn't have before. I've been too harsh on you. Current you. I'm sorry."

Probably not quite as meaningful as his apology during the blackout, but it is definitely a peace offering. She's still stepping back from Jack and Ianto, and she's not ready to be best buddies in the whole world. But Martha gets that Spike as he is now is not the same as Spike who attacked her.

Maybe it's not all that meaningful to her, but do you have any idea how often anyone apologises to him? Never. Never, is the answer.

"Don't really blame you." He gives her a nonchalant smile, a little shrug. This is Spike-talk for thanks, you have no idea how hard I've worked for someone to get that.

"It's all still in there, I just have to play by a different set of rules now." And he can't really be mad about it anymore. It's torture but it's torture he can endure, most days. "What I did before you lot gave me a soul is still going to be the best time of my life. Nothing can change that."

A quiet statement of facts and not a whole lot more. It's a contradiction he'll have to live with, remembering China or New York or even Sunnydale with fondness while his soul burns with the guilt from those very same memories.

She actually understands that. She hates that she does, but she does. Because she did have fun even if she doesn't want to think about it.

And really, the best days of her life up until marrying Mickey involved traveling time and space while in love with a man who would never see her.

Martha knocks shoulders with him. "Truce?" she asks smiling. They'd agreed to be civil before, but she was much more prepared to offer it now that she had figured some things out in her own life.

"And full disclosure, I did send Jack and Ianto a letter regarding things we apparently discussed while dreaming. I also sent them the rest of my hypervodka with instructions to share it with you." Yeah, he's proud of her, surprise surprise. Always did have more respect for people that can stand up for themselves and put their foot down when enough's enough. He continues with an amused tone, not really bothered that he hasn't been let in on this magically sounding alcohol.

"Whatever that is, I haven't seen sight of it. Wouldn't surprise me if they kept it to themselves, the bastards."
