[backdated to Day 367] classy Victorians can afford being late to the party
a;

[Watch out! When they said, "let's launch our kids into the future", they probably didn't mean this: a Victorian boy sailing at inhuman speeds over everyone's heads.

The kid's desperately screaming "Sebastian!" even as he collides with… well, Sebastian. Who just so happened to arrive in the prison a moment prior. Saying that Ciel "collides" with him is selling Sebastian short: what happens is that Sebastian, in that one moment between arriving and having a flying kid crash into him, manages to turn around just in time to catch Ciel in his arms.

It’s… not Sebastian's best heroic catch. Managing to catch someone at a moment's notice is one thing – bracing for the unexpected impact at the same time is another entirely. With a grunt he takes a stumbling step backwards—

possibly right into you. You know, if you just happened to be innocently standing there and didn't have the reflexes to move out of the way of two people who were literally not there a moment earlier. Sorry?]

[[OOC: Let us know if you'd like Ciel, Sebastian or both for this option!]]

b;

[Five minutes later and Ciel's off, doing his part in finding more intel on this place. He's approaching people at random, turning wide lost eyes on others and wandering around like a lost child. Anyone in the vicinity will hear him poshly asking for help.]

I think I'm lost. [Looks down at his jumpsuit. How awful. Not to mention ill-fitting, the sleeves spilling over his fingers and his legs being dwarfed by bunches of cloth. Looks back up.] No. I'm definitely lost. Have you seen my caretaker? Tall, dark, ridiculously useless when faced with cats? We were separated and...I don't even know why I'm here.

[So innocent. Much helpless. The powers that be definitely screwed up with this one. Feel free to spill anything you know about this place to him, even gossip if need be.]

c;

[Five minutes later, Sebastian is on the other side of the dome, to do his part of the investigation. "Try to find a way to break us out." Not the easiest task when his demon powers are restrained, but of course he'll give it his all regardless.

At least his part doesn't require any helpless act - he's changed out of the jumpsuit, is strolling alongside the edge of the dome with seemingly perfect composure before calmly stopping, looking up at the wall... you'd think he isn't a new arrival at all, acting so cool about everything. That is, perhaps, before he turns his head towards any passerby and asks, pleasantly and with a smile:]

The dome truly has never shown signs of cracking, has it?

[Maybe he is a little worried, after all.]

[After that initial visible surprise, Sebastian's features smoothes out once more.]

I told you: were your soul separated from your body, you would be dead.

It cannot be true. [The odd devices are lying. Sebastian is, of course, never ever wrong. Not even when he is, like right now. They don't know that yet.]

Did the voice speak of "crimes"? [The voice in Sebastian's ear is probably still rattling off his (it's a... long list). He's only half-listening to it; it's a boring list.]

Are you sure? [They are dealing with Reapers here, or so Ciel thinks. Well, if Sebastian says so, then it's a done deal. Sebastian never lies (to Ciel that is). This...contraption or whatever is obviously trying to confuse and mislead them. Besides, that far under the sea? There's no way the construction crew would survive the building process. They'd be crushed or drowned.]

Yes. [Frowns, though his list had concluded while they were talking. There's only so many atrocities he can commit in a three year time span, even with an amoral creature by his side strategically egging him on. Putting aside the hows and whys of this thing even knowing what his crimes are, or how doggedly ambitious it is to try and list a couple centuries worth of crimes] I won't recognize it. Only Queen Victoria may hold any judgment over me.

I have seen people with their minds damaged or partially lost, but once it is truly gone, so is their soul. [And then they're very dead indeed. A creature like Sebastian should be able to tell with certainty, right? Yes, he's sure.]

Naturally, young master. I am commenting neither on their accuracy nor what right they delude themselves to have to make such judgements. [Calling the Reapers(?) deluded is no subjective comment, obviously. Sebastian's own list is very... Any demon's list of crimes would very much like this. He's not even sure if it's tailored to him or not.]

Does this entire message not seem designed to unnerve and confuse? [Including the "bodies and consciousnesses separated" part. If Ciel's crimes are accurate, it's not a long leap to assume they'd know it'd unsettle him to be told such lies.]
