Day 367 - Action
[Evening - Within Trois Park.]

[If she could disappear into the ground she would. Simply melt into the earth beneath her and lose all sense of feeling. Become the grass, or the trees maybe. Living, but unfeeling, incapable of being hurt by the many things all around her. Life would be so simple if there was a switch, to simply turn her emotions off and not have to feel the very real crushing weight within her chest. Instead, as though to mock her very real pain, the greenery around her shifted and changed, mirroring her emotions. It was out of season, but where the cherry tree against her back should have been leafy greens, pink blossoms bloomed and fell in excess. Like the tears that streamed silent down her cheeks, they fell to the ground, and covered her and the earth beneath in pink and white petals, like snow. It zapped some of her strength, something that only happened here in Marina, but she could hardly put a stop to the way her emotions ran wild. Butterflies fluttered around the scene, and would seem out of place if not for the large, blood-like butterfly wings that decorated her back.

She had lost everything. Everything she had fought so hard to accomplish had fallen into ruin. Even though she had tried her hardest, even though she wanted more desperately than anyone to work for peace, and to stop and save her brother... it hadn't made one single difference. He had been right. 'No matter how hard you try, sometimes it will amount to nothing.']

Oniisama...

[It was all her fault. Now he was gone, frozen forever without a heart. What had she done wrong? She had tried so desperately to be the person that he had wanted, but she had failed. And now eternity would be hers to spend alone. She was a mother, she learned, all in the same day that apparently she had become a widow, or close enough. How was she supposed to be a mother, when she couldn't even protect the one person she had always loved? And now of all times? She was only seventeen. One year older than the girl who looked just like her and claimed to be her daughter. There was no doubt that she was. But Yuuki didn't know how to be there for or take care of her, when her own world was crashing all around. It was better if the girl ran as far away from her as she could.

Everything I love or get close to dies. As though her touch was toxic. One after another. Her mother and father, and now Kaname, too. Zero and Ai-- they weren't safe around someone like her. Eyes brimming with tears, she helplessly lifted a hand up to scrub at them. Her soul hurt, and she didn't know how to move forward from it.]

[OOC: After ICly learning that her fiance is gone after meeting with her future daughter. She wont have been home all day! Sorry for the mourning post, I had to get it out of the way :'| ]

[The presence is a familiar one, so powerful but quietly unassuming as he takes a seat beside her. Yuuki doesn't have to look up to know who it is. Zero. He doesn't say anything as he lowers himself down beside her. Instead, his silence and presence speaks for him. 'I'm here', he seems to say. No words necessary between them.

Days ago he was the one to have told her the truth. But she hadn't believed it. Emotionally, she hadn't been able to accept such a reality. One in which everything she's fought for has slipped between her fingers like water. No matter how tightly she tries to cup it within her hands, it still leaks out until there is nothing left.

A sob slips past her lips, unable to remain restrained, and she turns to him. Everything hurts, and she's never felt so empty before. It's even worse than having regained her memories, and what happened to her parents. It's like a hole has opened up inside her heart and can never be filled again. Eyes closing, her hands grasp his jacket and she buries her face against him, body beginning to shake as she openly sobs.]

[She'd known her mother had been upset over the news of her father. Zero had told her that much but Ai hadn't needed to be told. Even all of these years later she saw it in her mother's eyes. No matter how hard she might try to hide it from Ai.

Yet Ai couldn't lie to her mother when the subject of Kaname had come up. It would be impossible to keep it a secret. After all, he hadn't been part of her life in the same way that Yuuki and Zero had been. All Ai had of him was stories and visits to where he lay sleeping possibly forever. Should her mother ever drink her blood - see her memories - she would know that father wasn't present in the way he should have been.

So she'd told the truth. Hurting her mother was the last thing she wanted to do but it would only be worse if Ai tried to hide it.

Time has passed since then but she knows her mother wouldn't want her to see her pain. Which is why Ai gave her mother some space. It isn't really surprising that when she seeks Yuuki out, she finds Zero with her.

For a moment she simply watches from a distance, even knowing that they can both sense her presence. Eventually Ai approaches - the tree between them. Then circles it to take up a spot on the other side of her mother.

She wraps her arms around her mother's waist and leans into her back, inserting herself between the butterfly wings until she can rest her cheek upon Yuuki's shoulder.]

[It hurts to see her like this. Almost more than anything else he's experienced. Even more so, as there's nothing he can do to completely free her from it, apart from staying beside her.

It's only when she seek out the contact, first, does he act. One arm slipping around her, head tipped to press a kiss to the crown of her head. The other gently rubs her back. There truly are no words needed. He's here for her to cry all she needs to, and then for as long as she needs after that.

He doesn't look up when Ai settled down as well. This is what Yuuki needs most right now.]

[Love. It's what surrounds her on either side. Even as her heart falls to pieces and shatters to the ground, there are two individuals at her side, picking them up and trying to put them back together. She doesn't know if she deserves it, and in the moment she feels empty. They're taping her back together bit by bit like a puzzle, even as she crumbles. But inside she feels hollow, like air is all that fills her. But their love is present. She can feel it in the way they hold her, the warmth of their bodies and the quiet, but unwavering support.

She's lost everything. Except that there are two individuals beside her now that refuse to let her drown in the sorrow that threatens to pull her under. She doesn't flinch from Ai's embrace. Eyes closing as they both hold her near, the crimson wings tremble suddenly before pulling back. Disappearing into her body once more, the butterflies vanish too, melting into thin air. It's only the tree that continues to cry.]

Zero-- Ai...

[She closes her eyes against the onslaught of tears, but shifts against them. One arm releasing Zero, it slides around Ai to pull her forward too, so that she can embrace them both. They are what she has left. And while she can't see past the pain in the moment, neither are leaving her side to deal with it alone.]

[Her anguish continues to cause a ripple effect. It's not that he feels he can't properly breathe, himself, but there's no doubt how he aches for her. Yet just as well, there's a part of him who wants to show her those moments spent between all three of them both just before, and after Kuran gave his heart into the furnace. The way Yuuki reacted; the words he spoke. However, right now, it isn't at all what she needs to see. He knows that.]

Shh. . .

[Quiet, soft. He continues to hold her as close as he can, while allowing Ai to do just the same. In ways, he feels Ai is able to be there in consolation in a bit of a different way than he, himself, is. Which is just fine. Anything more that they can give to her.]
