Day 364 - Newbie Welcome Reception
Hey, everyone. We had a lot of new people arrive yesterday. It's the biggest group in a while. [She wondered if that said something about the state of the prison, but she kept going through her message without missing a beat.] I just wanted to let everyone know that the Day After Welcome Mingle is happening over at the Sizzle & Sear tonight. It's basically a way to help the newbies get to know people around them. So, newbies and oldbies can all come down and hang out. There will be comfort food and drinks.

If you have anything from home in the way of a recipe or comfort type meal you want me to try making for you, I can definitely give it a go. Just let me know, okay?

[At the restaurant, Piper was definitely doing her thing. It was a little harder with such a large group now that she had lost her hostess Inara again to the system glitch, but she was handling it pretty well, and Sam was a great help when he wasn't focused on the bar.

Standard menu is available, as well as traditional comfort foods that Piper already knows... like mac & cheese, etc. She's also looked up a few Russian dishes after Checkov requested them a while back, so there's a couple of them around, too.]

	Yeah. After I got the restaurant, I felt like I wanted to do a bit more, you know? This seemed like a good idea doing something I like and I'm good at. 	[ leia can relate to that, only on a force level instead of a magic one. she had a lot of feelings about someone putting themselves out there as a jedi(-like person) for hire — none of them good. she's seen what being treated as "the alliance's jedi" has done to luke. it's not something she wants for herself, especially here. ] The cooking or the gathering? A little of both, but definitely more the cooking. Inara was actually really great as a hostess, but she seems to have gone again with that glitch in the system.

[Piper shrugged a little, though it wasn't a dismissive one by any means. More of a, 'it stinks and is frustratingly sad, but nothing can be done right now' attitude.]

My grams always said I had a natural gift for cooking. [Which ended up translating really well into potion making...]

[It's almost like Chekov is summoned by the presence of traditional Russian cuisine. He comes by the Sizzle & Sear after the daily patrol and sits as out of the way as possible. Tonight isn't really a night for heavy socializing.

Not that he will ignore Piper when he sees her. They don't know each other well at all, but it's only polite to talk to the hostess.]
