[ It's easy enough to figure out the headset. He even listens to the message and information before he starts throwing a decidedly scruffy, Corellian-sized tantrum about it to whoever is on this thing that will pay attention. ]

Listen, this is General Solo. [ And isn't he glad he can finally pull rank, if there's anyone here he can pull rank on. ] If this is some kind of kriffing joke, it's not funny. But if it's not, then someone needs to tell me what's going on that contaminating carbonite is illegal, not to mention my fault.

[ Not that he'd think someone (one of the Rogues is his first guess) would pull a prank of this magnitude in the middle of a crisis that includes people getting entenched to power droids, but it would be nice if that were the case. Mostly because then he wouldn't really be in prison and could more effectively yell at someone about it. ]

[ he hasn't done that yet, and it doesn't hit her how much she's missed kissing him until he does. it has her spinning around to gett more of it, clutching his hand tight as she raises up on her toes to press her mouth more firmly against his. ]

Forty days. [ a lot of lost time to make up for, a lot of things he's not going to enjoy hearing. ] Forty very long [ and lonely ] days.

[ It's hard to reconcile that with the image in his head of her the last time he saw her before he woke up here, sitting with him in the speeder on the way back to Salis D'aar. Leia wasn't just with him, she's been here for over a standard month. Alone.

That can mean a lot of things he's not sure he wants to consider.

Han cups her cheek with his free hand, then presses another kiss to her forehead. ]

C'mon, or I'm never getting out of this thing. { The innuendo is not intended, it is just a happy accident. ]

[ there are things he needs to hear about her time here that he's not going to enjoy hearing. things she's not proud of, things she wishes she could have avoided. yesterday in particular was a sore spot, but she kissed someone else before bots were trapping her within energy field bubbles – kissed someone at her loneliest, when she thought she had more honest common ground and was trying to fill the void left in luke's wake. she wanted a connection of some kind, something honest and real – to feel some semblance of whole again.

but there was no fooling herself, and at the end of the day, all she was left with was regret.

she squeezes han's hand tightly, tugging on it to lead him in the direction of the nearest clothing shop. ]

[ He squeezes her hand back and follows, tries to ignore the knot of worry in the pit of his stomach for now. It would almost be better if she'd started out with a debriefing, a full run down of what he'd missed. And he has missed things, things she doesn't want him to know or things she doesn't want to tell him yet.

Last time, he'd ended up jealous of Luke. Luke who ended up being her brother, and Han felt silly enough already for the front he'd put on about that back on Endor. So, he stomps the worry down and focuses on being happy she's here and holding his hand and he isn't blind. Hopes they have clothes that'll fit him and look a little more normal than what Leia's got on. ]

[ leia fears him developing that same, irrational jealousy over reid. she kissed him, but it was a misguided kiss. a mark of loneliness, a desperation to feel. maybe there could've been something, but that's a big maybe and not something that would happen over night. not while her heart still belonged to han and she yearned for both his company and that of her brother — of winter and dodonna and madine. he has nothing to fear from reid, who may be a source of information on things she has no other way of knowing, but is still working on earning back her trust after lying to her about those films. ]

The clothing here isn't like what you're used to. [ for the most part. occasionally, she'll see garments that resemble something she recognizes, but the majority is very what she's come to call 'earth-based.' ] But I'm sure we can find you something.

Something clean at the very least.

[ was that a jab at the often broken laundry system on the falcon? perhaps. ]

I'll be the judge of that, [ leia throws over her shoulder, and like his earlier statement, the innuendo is a happy accident.

there are no happy accidents in the changing room, however, once they've got him a few decent sets of clothes and she's rolling down sleeves he keeps pushing up. for both band reasons and things she needs to tell him. the eventual debriefing she knows he senses is about to happen. ]

Luke disappeared seventeen days ago.

[ a dressing room is no place to have this conversation, but there's no one else here, save the droids who run the store, restock the shelves, and keep clothes on the hangars. there's no room for her to join him on the tiny table, so she leans back against the mirror. ]

I don't know. One minute he was there, and the next— [ a sharp hitch of a breath, for the next moment it was like someone had all but severed a limb. those first few luke-less moments were disorienting. she'd felt dizzy and nauseous, like her center of gravity had shifted dramatically and she no longer knew how to stand on her own two feet. ] The next it was like... Like part of me was ripped away. Cut off. Every time I reach for him [ in the force, something she's become far more adept at since yelling at ghosts on bakura ] there's nothing. Nothing but impossible emptiness.

[ On some level, Han is still wrapping his head around Leia and Luke being siblings. He doesn't know how this part works. The Force, feeling things that way, it's all beyond him. The last time he'd tried to speak about it hadn't gone well, though how much of that was his fault and how much was Vader(Anakin)'s is up for debate.

He does know the hitch in her voice, and how she usually deals with things like this. It's what has him reaching over to grab her hand, eyes on her face. ]

And it's been like that for seventeen days... [ It isn't a question. ]

Yes. [ a quiet answer, weighted down with shame and abhorrence for even attempting to fill the void that luke left. especially with someone who could never be a replacement for han (not that she intended him to be) and was ultimately lying to her. she may be open to repairing her friendship with reid and unwilling to ignore valuable information he possesses, but her trust is something he's going to have to earn back.

han isn't going to like hearing about any of this, and she's sorry she has to hurt him this way. but she isn't about to lie or hide any of it. not even (especially not) to protect him. they've had enough of that, and she would be the pot calling the kettle black if she did what she took reid to task over. ]

I tried... [ she can't look at him, can't do this as an alliance superior with an impassive façade in place. ] I tried to fill that void up. It's been unbearable, and I'm constantly aware of it. Like the throbbing absence of a phantom limb. [ there's a quick glance his way, a hard one that warns him away from referencing luke's hand in any way. ] I was misguided, and I'm sorry for misleading him, but I'm not sorry for the black eye I gave him when I found out he was lying to me the whole time.

[ Oh, no. No, no, she can't be saying what he thinks she's saying, because if something like that didn't happen in the year he was stuck in carbonite it wouldn't have happened in a month underwater. His heart sinks and the familiar, wriggling weight of doubt settles into his stomach like so many Coruscant garbage worms.

Still, she's sorry for misleading him, and filling a void, and maybe he's assuming a lot more than he has a right to. Slowly, he pulls his hand back and grips the edge of the table so tight his knuckles go pale. ]

You gonna tell me what happened or do I have to guess?

[ she can tell that he's already guessing, already twisting together worst case scenarios in his mind. likely of her in a new, loving relationship with someone a little more on her level — a panic spiral best saved for the day when obligation, responsibility, and stature rear their ugly heads and demand that she allow someone with a title, fortune, and no outstanding bounties to court her in han's place.

but that's not the case here. ]

Eight days ago [ again with counting days, because of course she's counted forwards and backwards on every moment of her time here ] there was a party. I kissed someone I considered a close, trusted friend at the time. I discovered he was lying about knowing who I was three days later.

There are films that exist in his world. Films about us. Our galaxy. Our lives. He knew me from them.

[ He can't look up from her feet. Not looking at her face doesn't make it any easier to hear, and Han is still waiting for something else to drop. There's some small relief in only hearing the word 'kissed,' at least, and knowing whoever this guy is managed to screw it up, but it's not enough. Not yet. ]

How much does this kissed guy know? [ It isn't the first time there's been vids--Han had signed off on some for the extra credits right after Yavin--but they were never very accurate. ]

[ His head snaps up when she mentions Tatooine, but he doesn't turn his head to look at her, not yet. He might have been blind at the time, but Han wasn't stupid and you don't work for Jabba as long as he had without knowing exactly what that slug was capable of. ]

So this guy knew... Things. He knew, and you kissed him, and then you hit him?

[ Finally, he chances a look at her face, knuckles a little less white from the grip he has on the table's edge. He needs the facts, the timeline, so he can wrap his head around it and figure out what it means. ]

[ Until this moment, he hadn't really considered how they'd fare through something like this. Then again, until now their biggest obstacles have been torture, carbonite, and Vader, so maybe this will be easier.

What is he supposed to do? Forgive her? Yes, obviously. That answer is immediate and undeniably correct. But what about this other man? It was easier to apologize for being a vrelt's ass when the jealousy was all in his head, when there was nothing solid urging it on. Or maybe it was Luke doing that Force trick with him, it's hard to tell this far removed from Bakura and Alderaanian Imperials.

That one will take a while to figure out, but seeing the look on her face drains away some of the anger. Hard to stay mad when she's like this, when she's talking about things openly instead of pretending nothing gets to her. ]

Okay. [ Just that, one word of acknowledgement as he lets go of the table to hug his arms to himself. ]

You-- What do you want me to say, Leia? [ He's hurt, and that's obvious, but he's not entirely unfamiliar with the concept. It's just one he'd rather move past as quickly as possible. ]

I don't like it, I really don't, but you were here and I wasn't. Nothing either of us says is gonna change it. [ Han sighs, hugs his arms tighter to himself, and he pretends it helps. ] Besides, I figure if you're in here with me and not wherever he's at, I've still got a shot.
