358 - voice + action
[ It's surprisingly early, for him. Vampire habits and all that, this transmission should happen later in the afternoon but it doesn't. He also sounds surprisingly drunk for it being this early in the day — effort was taken to reach this level of inebriety. It's clear in the tone of his voice, the stubborn lack of video, the briefness of the message. ]

Rose is gone. She was a good person even if you wankers didn't appreciate it.

[ And off goes the feed. He'll make his way to the graveyard with as many bottles of whiskey as he can possibly carry. Gotta start early in the day if you want to drink yourself to oblivion. Anyone coming across him can expect to find a fumbling mess of a man and more than one smashed bottle. ]

He frowns a bit at that suggestion. The thought of staying in a new, unfamiliar apartment on his own and crashing at Jack and Ianto's seem terrible compared to just remaining out here for the foreseeable future. Staying with them is especially bad, the makings of a disaster (or a very sexy sit-com).

"Nice enough night for it. I'll be fine here." He gives Jack a somewhat puzzled look.

"Just where do you think I sleep back home? It's not like I got a flat... I've spent more time in mausoleums and sewers than a bed."

At least over the last couple of years, when he's become less and less picky. When he was with Dru he'd make the effort to steal a four-poster but they still lived in abandoned factories and ruins, rent-dodging squatters, one step up from being homeless in the street. Thus is the life of a vagrant vampire.

He smiles ruefully. Spike's as stubborn as he is; he should have remembered that.

"Okay, then, have it your way. Anything you'd like me to get you? Pillow? Blanket? More whisky?"

"I'm fine." He shakes his head. Fine might be an exaggeration but the sun won't burn him and drinking whisky won't do anything other than pickle him for a few days.

"You scurry on back to your boy. Got lost time to make up for, don't you?"

"Okay." He knows when to stop arguing, at least sometimes. He leans over and drops another light kiss on the top of Spike's head, then sighs and heaves himself up to his feet.

"Have a good night in the graveyard. And remember our door's always open if you need us."

And he's gone, to - er - make up for lost time with Ianto.
