[ It's surprisingly early, for him. Vampire habits and all that, this transmission should happen later in the afternoon but it doesn't. He also sounds surprisingly drunk for it being this early in the day — effort was taken to reach this level of inebriety. It's clear in the tone of his voice, the stubborn lack of video, the briefness of the message. ]

Rose is gone. She was a good person even if you wankers didn't appreciate it.

[ And off goes the feed. He'll make his way to the graveyard with as many bottles of whiskey as he can possibly carry. Gotta start early in the day if you want to drink yourself to oblivion. Anyone coming across him can expect to find a fumbling mess of a man and more than one smashed bottle. ]

Only the one time. [Yes, he did and yes it's an awkward subject but he still manages to make it sound teasing. They might as well not take it seriously since it's just going to be uncomfortable otherwise.] It doesn't have to be par the course for you, you know. I'm not saying you should suddenly become some social butterfly but people might be willing to give you a chance of you make the effort. I did.

I'll give you a call. [This little crush of his feels less distracting now that he knows what it's like to lose Jack and knows he never wants to do anything that could cause that to happen again. It's still there but it feels less distracting than it did before. Or maybe he's just telling himself that.]

She sounds like a good person. I wish I'd gotten to know her better.

Once or twice but it was just conversations. You're not the only anti-social one in this place you know. [He thinks sometimes people forget that, since Jack is so outgoing and over the top. They assume he must be, too, or just come away with that impression of Jack rubbing off on their memory of him, too. He doesn't mind people and he's friendly and likes interacting with people, but he tends to keep them at a professional distance when he can. With a few exceptions, of course.]

	[This time he does hug him, even if it might not do much to help or be what Spike wants now. But it seems to mean more than just saying things like I'm sorry she's gone or I wish this didn't keep happening.. If he hadn't been on the other side of this when Jack disappeared, this would be a moment of apprehensive tensing and wanting no part of this but they're so past that and so he reciprocates, curling an arm around Ianto's back.

I know it is. [The fact that he's heartbroken and drunk in a cemetery right now says as much, even if he hadn't told him so many different stories about the lengths he's gone to or will go to for the women he loves.] It was how I do things, too. [Sex and drama first, emotions second. That's one way they're different. Romance tends to sneak up on him, rather than being a priority. He doesn't ever expect to end up caring as much as he does.]

And in the name of clearing the air, yes, I did like it. And I think about it a lot. I'm not about to up and leave Jack because I want to have a shot with you and at the end of the day I think I like us being friends better in any case. And that kiss the other day was a drunk thing, that's all. [Probably.] Like I said, I like the friendship better.
