[This is so freakin' awkward for so many reasons. Kanji barely knows Nathan and plus there's all the awkwardness from yesterday. Moatly he's spent today wishing a hole would open up in the floor and swallow him but he's gotta be a man about this, dammit! He needs to clear the air and make sure Nathan knows nothing is up with him and Euphie.]

[Want to interact with Kanji today? If you do you'll need to find him since he's going to be hiding in his apartment all day. He won't admit it to Euphie but he's pretty not cool with having the Wardens manipulate who and what he likes the way they did yesterday. It makes him feel messed up and uncomfortable and weird and like there probably is something wrong with him after all if they had to work so hard to change him and make him normal. He's not usually one to talk about his feelings but today you might actually be able to get him to.]

Normally, Jack would just grin and wink because normally? Not being got is exactly what he's going for. But not today, not with Kanji.

"I was a time traveller," he explains gently. "When I finally got away from home, went to see the stars, it was because I joined the Time Agency. The whole of time and space at my fingertips - at least once I got out from under their rafts of rules and regulations!"

"I guess I can get that. Dunno if I'd wanna leave home though." He likes Inaba even if he spends half his time getting in trouble with the police or school. He's fighting the Shadows and solving the case to keep his town safe after all. He's never really thought about what he'll do after school, mostly 'cause he doubts he'll graduate but he doesn't want to leave. He'll probably take over the shop after his mom or something like that. The whole universe to explore? That sounds kinda daunting to him if you gotta do it at the cost of your home.

	He gives Kanjia a slightly sideways look. "You know it's not about being a hero, right?" Yes, he does tend to fling his self-appointed status around like a bit of a battering ram, but a lot of the time it's just as a means to warn off the bad guys. "Yeah? Then why you doin' this?" It's not accusatory like before but he's sometimes unexpectedly good at seeing to the heart of situations and calling them out. Going out of your way to talk to some kid just for a misunderstanding yesterday he wants to ignore? Seems like a big hero thing to him. Then again it's what his Senpai woulda done so who knows. Maybe it's a combination of caring and just being that guy who always seems to be at the center of everything.

	Kanji's pretty much hit the nail on the head there, but Jack's not really self-aware enough to articulate it as such. He shrugs lightly. "I felt you got a pretty raw deal yesterday, and I know I didn't exactly help much. I just wanted to make sure you were okay today." "Oh, it's all about me, huh? Yeah, okay." Not really buyin' it too much. All that talk about traveling across the stars and he didn't mention other people a lot. The way Kanji sees it he probably fucked something up big time and now wants to fix him to make it all better. Great, that sure makes him feel good. He eyes him levelly. "Okay, if I got such a raw deal yesterday what're you gonna do about that now?"

The corner of his mouth twitches wryly. "I don't know, really. I only really thought as far as coming to check on you and try and talk to you!"

He does after all have a tendency to rely on his ability to think on his feet, and go with his gut.

He sobers, then, frowning slightly, and finally comes out with it. "Okay, what's really bothering me is how they mucked around with your sexuality yesterday. It's confusing enough, what you're going through, without them suddenly switching your orientation." A faint shrug. "And sexuality is something I'm intimately familiar with. I guess I was hoping I might be able to help a bit there."

Kanji gets the same deer in the headlights look he always wears when this topic comes up. He splutters and chokes on his tea for a minute looking like he wants to bolt out of the room and this conversation. He can't, though, since it would be weird to run out of his own apartment.

He clears his throat and looks anywhere but at Jack. The silence stretches on and on much longer and more awkwardly than it should like he's hoping Jack will forget all about it. When he finally does talk it's in a more subdued tone than his normal one, fiddling awkwardly with his tea cup. "Um. Yeah. It was... I dunno if I can say it better than that. It feels like..." Elequent as always. He tries to finish. "Like what's wrong with me that they gotta change me so much to make me normal, you know?"
