[Day 332][Video|Action|Open]
[Seyn is staring down the video screen, not that unfamiliar with the technology, even if this form of it is different from what she’s used to. There’s an awkward, tense smile on her face, as if she’s trying to think of the most polite way to say what’s on her mind. Bright orange really clashes with her hair and eyes in a way that she immediately thinks would make her a rather gaudy Knight, but that's not important, is it? Not when she's just been sent to a virtual prison.]

All right now. I can believe that I’m in prison, considering what I’ve been up to the last few months. But some of these crimes are really just too much. How can they blame you for crimes that weren’t crimes when you were doing 'em? [Or at least not viewed as crimes towards the people she was fighting when it happened. She doesn't sound as angry as she really is, managing to keep most of her tone this side of frustration, the smile more obviously sarcastic by the end than genuine.]

I guess I should be thankful I wasn't sent straight to solitary, but it's hard to feel grateful right this nano.

[Action]
[There's only so much that being on video can tell her, so Seyn starts wandering, using the map to familiarize herself with the locations, especially where the food stores are and the lodgings. She feels like she sticks out like an accident cone in these clothes. It makes her feel too visible, and she's used to wearing white.

So the first place she heads towards is Bull's Eye. She can't get that ankle monitor off, but she's not staying in this jumpsuit. She'll be digging through the clothes and when she finds something she likes well enough--black jogging pants and a dark red shirt--she'll be stripping down to her underwear right there and putting it on. Speed is more important to her than privacy--not that she's really used to privacy in the first place--so sorry to anyone who happens to walk by the women's athletic section right then. She's a bit too tall for the racks themselves to cover her up. After the change, she'll be wandering from sector to sector, trying to memorize everything that she can. Knowing the playing field is always rule number one.]

[If she retained all her memories from the time the wardens fast forwarded her to five years in the future then she'd probably bring up the meta gene. But only the strongest memories—like Wally's death or her going under cover really stuck around and even those are blurred around the edges.]

We have people with powers but they come from things like science experiments, advanced tech, or not actually being human. There aren't a lot of tails.

Doesn't sound so different from home, then, if ya ask me. Some Knights use technology to increase their chances in the arena, but for most of us, it's just the glitches in the genetech. [Her nose wrinkles just a bit.] Not that I'd call us science experiments...unless everyone in the UNA is one.

[Do you come with a otherworldy vocabulary guide?] UNA?

[She's talking without explaining much again. It's really going to take a while to get used to a place that doesn't know anything she'd talking about.] United North America. If you know about New York City, then I'd say North America exists?

Yeah, it's been around existing for awhile. Did America and Canada team up?

Yeah, a few centuries ago. Mexico and some of the Caribbean joined in, too. Not Greenland though. It still belongs to the EuroCon--I mean, the European Confederation. That's most of the European continent.

[It's pretty obvious now that this girl's world is very different from her own.] It's 3933 where I'm from, but I'm thinking that's a bit off the mark for you.

Wow. [Yes, that's really all she can say about that because it's just such a huge gap between their timelines.]

But that's... [She lets out a breath of air.] That's before genetech and the continental unions and just...everything.

Everything might be a little far. Stuff happened in the last two thousand years. But I get it, things are different.

[Well doesn't that sound silly the way she said it, now that Seyn repeats it in her own head.]

That's what I meant. There's a lot that happened in the few centuries, so it's strange to think of a time when so many things I know didn't exist. But you must have so much we don't have, too, don't ya? I mean, you have trees and forests and pandas!

...You don't have trees? So no books or paper or...toilet paper? [It's a weird thought, but you try imagining the world without it.]

Sure we have trees. I'd hope no one would be so dumb as to try getting rid of all of 'em. [What with the ecosystem needs and all.] But it's been years since I got to see real ones. Years before I got here, I mean...if the trees here even count what with being virtual and all. [She laughs a little because she's started to ramble.] Anyway, most of the cities don't have them anymore. Trees are on natural preservations and protected forests or farm complexes.

[She lets out a wistful sigh.] Being able to see them on the street or go to a park full of 'em with grass and flowers growing all over whenever you want? A world like that sounds mighty nice.

Welcome to mighty nice prison then. I'd still take a pass if I could get a ticket out of here though.

Me, too. It's all nice to look at, but some of the luster wears off when you know it's all fake. Besides, I don't know anyone who would like staying in prison.

[She adjusts the bag she has on her arm, ready to take it up to the front.]

It's been nice to meet ya... Oh, I don't know you're name.
