[Day 332][Video|Action|Open]
[Seyn is staring down the video screen, not that unfamiliar with the technology, even if this form of it is different from what she’s used to. There’s an awkward, tense smile on her face, as if she’s trying to think of the most polite way to say what’s on her mind. Bright orange really clashes with her hair and eyes in a way that she immediately thinks would make her a rather gaudy Knight, but that's not important, is it? Not when she's just been sent to a virtual prison.]

All right now. I can believe that I’m in prison, considering what I’ve been up to the last few months. But some of these crimes are really just too much. How can they blame you for crimes that weren’t crimes when you were doing 'em? [Or at least not viewed as crimes towards the people she was fighting when it happened. She doesn't sound as angry as she really is, managing to keep most of her tone this side of frustration, the smile more obviously sarcastic by the end than genuine.]

I guess I should be thankful I wasn't sent straight to solitary, but it's hard to feel grateful right this nano.

[Action]
[There's only so much that being on video can tell her, so Seyn starts wandering, using the map to familiarize herself with the locations, especially where the food stores are and the lodgings. She feels like she sticks out like an accident cone in these clothes. It makes her feel too visible, and she's used to wearing white.

So the first place she heads towards is Bull's Eye. She can't get that ankle monitor off, but she's not staying in this jumpsuit. She'll be digging through the clothes and when she finds something she likes well enough--black jogging pants and a dark red shirt--she'll be stripping down to her underwear right there and putting it on. Speed is more important to her than privacy--not that she's really used to privacy in the first place--so sorry to anyone who happens to walk by the women's athletic section right then. She's a bit too tall for the racks themselves to cover her up. After the change, she'll be wandering from sector to sector, trying to memorize everything that she can. Knowing the playing field is always rule number one.]

Callin' it playin' means it's fun. You know like playin' an instrument, playin' songs on your earbuds, playin' sims. It's all about what's fun. Most people wouldn't even call gardening fun, because they leave it to service bots.

Looks like you're th' city folk here. Gardenin' is survival to me, not somethin' you do on your day off.

Survival? Flowers aren't--[She cuts herself off this time because she's sure they are misunderstanding each other here.] Are you talking about farming? Because I'm talking about growing flowers and shrubs and upkeepin' 'em so they look nice and fill out your lawn. That's not something you need to live. That's gardening. Farming is a much more complicated process they do on special agriculture compounds. That's where we get our food.

....are you shittin' me? You're tellin' me how to grow shit and you're gettin' it wrong? It's not about what's in it, it's a matter of scale.

Herb garden. Vegetable garden.

[Food doesn't go in a garden. People don't just grow food behind their houses. That's not how things work. But saying it's wrong is silly if in his world it is, isn't it? They're just going to keep arguing alternate semantics forever. What is the point of this?]

All right. In your world they're called gardens. They're not in my world. There's no "scale." Gardens are for decoration and agriculture facilities grow our food. You'd need special equipment and processing. A little facility of your own, to grow the food without it being contaminated. I don't know anyone who has that stuff just sitting around. I've found more berries and fruits growing naturally on the Preserve than I ever seen in someone's yard.

Okay. So maybe next time you're brand new in a place, don't draw quick assumptions an' try to lecture someone on somethin' they could do in their sleep.

[ Yeah, he's salty about this. Usually he's a lot more forgiving but wow did she ever manage to pick the one subject he's passionate about. ]

[What? Is he really trying to act like it's all her fault? She snaps back just as easily.]

Considering you're the one who got all snippy that I said something as a compliment, it seems this bit of miscommunication all started because both of us were assumin' things. I'm sorry for what I said, I shouldn't have been thinkin' everything you know is the same as what I do, but you weren't helping by not explaining that's some terrible insult in your world.

I'm supposed to know enough about you to get all this when I just got here, but it's okay for you to jump to conclusions about what I said without even askin'? How is that fair?

You know what? I don't need this. [ Which, good job, he hasn't been driven to this point more than a handful of times in the six months he's been here. ]

Welcome to prison.

[ And with that he hangs up. ]
