Yo, clinic staff and anyone else who's got a little experience with CPR or lifeguarding, is a particularly strong swimmer or whose got skills that might be useful for us if the water rises much higher - put your hand up. The Force here's looking for volunteers but I'm going to be the one poking you all with a stick to get organized.

[Karev's wet to the bone, still packing waterproofed supplies - the last of it from the clinic. Anything for small abrasions from floating garbage to CPR mouth guards. Not that they'll likely see much use, hopefully. He looks a little tired but it's not the first time he's worked through a hangover and frankly, it's forgotten pretty quick. As terrible as it sounds, he thrives on a good disaster. The ability to do something in a good disaster.]

Keep tabs on your friends and neighbors, not everyone knows how to swim or how to admit that they never learned. Once someone goes under there's only a short period of time to do something in. After about seven minutes, they're gone. And don't go trying to be a savior if you're not trained to, either, because a drowning person can drag you down too if you're not prepared.

[ People have drowned. They just didn't do it loudly. Aidan's pretty sure there's at least a couple of faces he hasn't seen in a while and that's why he's still out there, paddling around on his little homemade mini raft despite the way exhaustion makes his limbs heavy. This is fine. Planks are good for resting.

Planks are less good for resting when said exhaustion makes keeping his balance tough and in an ill-advised move Aidan topples over, goes under, realizes that wow he probably should've called it quits an hour ago because where he was previously a strong swimmer he now has noodles for limbs. Coughing, sputtering, sinking, all in rapid succession. ]

[It's bad enough it's raining. Not just raining, but pouring rain with nowhere to go - he was pissy when it was to his ankles but the deeper it's gone the more full of dark twisty Meredith rage he seems to get. Because this is bullshit. He's cold and cranky and his default state is cold and cranky so it's a double whammy of teeth-grating annoyance and that's before he even realizes who he's about to save.

But instinct is instinct and he just caught the movement out of the corner of his eye, something slipping under water? Something loud enough for an audible splash and he's not about to screw around. Like he said, you drown on his watch and it looks bad on him. With as much of a start as he can get, he dives in to the cold murky abyss and makes his way over. Hands reaching out ahead of him to grope where he can't see, he wants to find a body. Just not a dead one.]

	[ He will find a not-dead body, albeit a recently unconscious one. It's amazing how quickly that happens when you're all out of steam, leaving him with just enough time for the cold dread panic of death to settle into his chest. [Karev's touched by relief to lay hands on something, finally, grabbing at limbs and what's in reach as he sinks down with Aidan's body. Touching down on the ground or the closest object to them at that point, he shoves off it and back toward the surface. A steady stream of bubbles guiding the way up, he's nearly out of breath when he sucks in a gasp and gets a good look at who he's found.]

... Goddamn it. Y'gotta be - freakin' - kidding me. [Braethless, he's looking around for somewhere to drag Aidan onto - attempt at one roof ending in failure of going against the current, he makes do with the agonizingly slow swim to another, dragging Aidan along. Slamming him down flat and dragging them both out of the water's icy grip, there's not a beat of hesitation before he's giving CPR like a true professional.]

[ Karev is in luck. It doesn't take all that long before Aidan springs to life and even more so, he has the instinct to roll to the side before he coughs, hacks, pukes up the rainwater that got into his system. This is so gross and painful and it takes him an embarrassingly long time to draw somewhat deep and real breaths again, lungs aching like nothing else. ]
