Day 317 / Video / locked and open
Jack has not had a good night. Ianto didn't come home and that's so unlike him – as in, it's the first time it's happened, ever – that he spent most of the night sitting up, worrying, except for the time he spent trying to call Ianto over the network. He even headed over to the library at one point to see if Ianto had just fallen asleep there, but there was no sign of him and he couldn't think where else he might be. And he didn't want to leave home for long in case Ianto turned up there.

But he didn't. And the morning has brought confirmation of why not. As he listens to Veridical's even-more-scathing-than-usual morning greeting, the blood drains from his face. It's as if all his worst nightmares are thrust upon him at once. He sits there shaking, and it's a while before his legs stop trembling enough to grab his coat and head for the door. But he doesn't get any further than the door, because there's a dismembered arm waiting on his doorstep. He stares at it, face ashen, and then picks it up gently, as if to avoid hurting Ianto any more than he's been hurt already, and brings it into their home.

Eventually, he gets his headset back on and starts making some calls, his face pale and grim, mouth set in a straight, tight line.

I know. [Of course he does; he's part of the Investigative Team, after all. That didn't stop him chasing the tiny tendril of hope that somebody might have come up with something he hadn't heard about.]

Damn it. So what do we do? With Spike, we could shove a soul back inside him, but that's not going to work here, is it? So what do we do?

[He's simultaneously furious and helpless, and he doesn't like it one bit.]

He's not immortal. He's tough and the intangibility makes him hard to target, but probably not impossible. [She knows their powers don't work the same way, but that doesn't mean they might not have some of the same weaknesses. Magic. Telepathic attacks. Though they're running lower and lower on people with those abilities.]

Maybe see about getting him drunk first. Anything to lower his ability to function and then work on wearing him down. We have the numbers. And fights on more of a primal level than a planned one. We can out think him. [You know, when some of them aren't busy being all emotional in his direction. But even as she gives out some of these ideas she finds herself unsure if they'll work. The exorcists from his world she talked to seemed so sure only exorcists were capable of taking out a noah, and they're definitely fresh out of them. But this is not going to be open season on anyone he comes across. It just can't be.]

There's also the noah itself. He was a regular guy before it became part of him. If we can destroy it, then that should take out his powers and the homicidal tendencies. [Not that she or anyone knows for sure. Allen always wanted to do that. To save them. But it was unproven. His attempts had only left Tyki full of scars that never fully healed.]

[Well, that's a bit more encouraging, at least. They actually have options.

His voice softens somewhat.] You sound like you've spent a lot of time working this out. [i.e. before today. She's known it was a possibility for a long time.] I'm sorry.

[He's on the Investigative Team himself and he knows they've been trying to work on this, but it's not his area of expertise so he's mostly left the others to it. He's been working more on the technical aspects of trying to get them out of here.]

	Shouldn't I be the one apologizing here? [Or did she already? But she knows what he means. He knows that she and Tyki were once close. That there were...are feelings there. Not to mention the worry she's felt over Reid ever since Tyki took an interest in him.] But yeah. I have. This has been a long time coming. It is. [She didn't know the girl on much of a personal level, but power wise she was impressive and had helped them out more than once. Kitty nods along to Jack's suggestions]

If we can get rid of the Noah that should take care of the powers and the desire to hurt others. ...I think. Even if it's just the powers it should help. [Not that a regular human can't be plenty dangerous on his own especially against other regular humans.]
