Day 301 - Video
[There's really no denying it anymore. Zatanna is gone. The only thing left to do is announce it and move on, right?]

Zatanna was around for a long time and I don't know everyone she talked to so, you should probably know she is... [She can't quite get the word "gone" out. What follows is a little more explicit and for those who didn't step through a glowing door recently it just may be news to you.] Trapped in some kind of see-through pod in the real prison while we're all in here having hay rides and dances in our minds. [Frustrated. Upset. Sad. Also greedy, but that's just the pearl's fault and really neither here nor there except that it ramps up just how much she wants her friend back!]

No, of course not, but when we didn't know, we could still hope. This is... I hate to think of her just lying there all alone, cut off from the people here. Of course, she's probably not aware at all, but...

Or maybe her consciousness is in another VR. [A breath.] Maybe that's what happened to all the people who think they've gone home and come back.

[And maybe that means she'll come back.]

Don't worry, by the sounds of it, if she were awake, she'd be out of her pod and looking for some way of escaping.

[A breath.] And yeah, a lie. I mean, I can't help wondering... all those people who think they've gone home and come back again? Perhaps they didn't go home at all. Perhaps they just got an memory upload whilst lying in their pod?

I don't know. I can't help wondering, though. They could be fake memories, just to mess with us. Or they could be real stuff that we've actually lived, but when we first arrived they... took us back to a previous point in our memories so they could mess with us by suddenly scooting us forward - or backward, like the other day. The possibilities are endless, and a lot easier in a virtual environment.

You might. Though I guess if anyone saw your real body in its pod, they'd be able to tell you.

[Though unfortunately determining his age from how he looked in his pod would be a bit harder. Ianto didn't mention him looking particularly older, but at the rate he ages that only narrows it down to the next few millennia.

He shrugs, and lets it go, giving Artemis a faint leer instead.] For what it's worth, you made a very hot 20 year-old!

No one saw me in a pod because I woke up in it myself. I guess I was this age though. Good point. [Because that was a gap in logic she was missing as he started to open her mind up to all the things she didn't necessarily want to think about and what was that about being hot? Very hot.]

And I know it. I'm a hot 15 year-old too. [Not as confident as she plays, but for all her securities they aren't really body issue related.]

I think it's possible. It's probably not a good idea, because changing timelines never is, but I'm working on the principle that since our captors have already changed them by bringing us both here from different points in time, if the universe was going to implode it would have done so already.

So whereever the hell we actually are, we should be able to escape from it together. No reason to go back to where and when we were.
