[300] late night
[It's not until night fall that Tyki bothers with this, yet another 'exciting' day of celebration having gone by to honor 300 days of captivity. Two hundred and seventy days for him, specifically. Why this merits flashing lights, games and a parade of food is beyond him but humans were always fond of doing what they were expected to. And in this case they were celebrating their own lives wasting away like sheep. He'd find this more fun to watch if he wasn't also wasting away with them rather than a witness.

He could be busy, but he has things to strike off the docket before he can relax again. Punishments, specifically. Tending to horses was easy enough, but he still owed a performance of some kind to his fellow inmates. So late this evening as things wound down and the night swept over the dome, he'd borrowed from the sector 0 stage a violin and sat himself in shadow on the floating speaker island. It was a little past midnight when the music from the speakers lulled away. And it was then that he set his device aside to record the dark; the hard to distinguish outline of his silhouette moving every so often, bathed in shadow.

He had borrowed a violin, stiff as he was to try it again. Fiddling was an easy way to make a buck, a cheap instrument to travel with as well. He'd had one a long time ago until it'd splintered, and hadn't picked up one since. But even after all that time when he began to play, the notes floated back to him with ease.

He doesn't speak, he just plays. You like what you hear? Well, there's more to follow.]

[ This is a really dramatic end to a really good day. Good on you, sir. ]

You play really well.

[At a pause after playing, he simply chuckles. It's now a rare time for him to use the private function!]

Thank you, love. I'm glad you've been entertained.

I didn't even know you played. Have you been keeping this a secret from me on purpose?

Oh, of course. I wait until you left every night before serenading the cat at the Compass.

I don't tend to, is all. Unless there's a reason. [Like punishments or busking.]

I knew it. [ Dork. ] Still so full of surprises, Tyki. I was probably an idiot for thinking that I was starting to get to know you.

Oh, love. You haven't even scratched the surface.

[Tsk tsk.] There is a world of things you don't know about me.

[He sets the violin aside for a moment, pausing to light up a cigarette.] It wasn't that great.

Five years ago I could play it without a hitch. Now, well. It's passable.

If I didn't, the bots would've been angrier.

I put off my punishments for a while. That doesn't please them much.

But I suppose they could have given you a worse punishment.

It wasn't the only one they gave me, but - the first to require interacting with others. Makes it more irksome, but that's true. It could be worse.

[He actually liked hanging with the horses.] You and Spike ever going to get hitched? You might want to book me in advance to play at your wedding.

[Kitty was finished over at the party and was getting ready for a late night patrol. It wasn't normal for her to be out on the late ones, but her purple pearl had her thinking this was a piece of cake and she could totally handle herself no matter what happened.

At first, she heard the music through her earpiece, and she listened as she walked, just letting the player continue. It was kind of nice. However, she realized after some time that she was getting closer to the source. While Sector 0 wasn't her normal patrol area, she was curious as she reached the edge of Sector 3. With the center circle of the prison being mostly an open space, the sound traveled, and she glanced out to see if she could spot the source of the music.]

[He remained reclining a little, leg draped over the edge of the floating island as he played; drawing on the songs with a few improvised notes as he tried to recall the original scores. He stops broadcasting after a point but continues to play, tending to replies from curious onlookers with it fading in and out of the background. But now he sets down the bow, letting a silence fall around them.

He sees her, or more specifically he's aware of her. Hard not to, considering he's always aware of her twin. But he waits for a long moment before he speaks up, as if heavily considering his words.]

A bit late for you to be out, don't you think? [He's not sure if she'll catch on to where he is right away, but he does lean forward; resting his elbow on his bent knee.]

[Pearl-induced bravado kicking in now after the initial shock.]

I'm fine. It's totally normal to do late shifts now and then.

Shifts? [Hah, well that's interesting. She's doing her job for the force, then.

He keeps looking down at her because if there's anyone who might be wise to his tricks and mimic them back, it's a clone of Kitty's. He still finds them intriguing, especially in the differences between them, but it irks him to be even less unique the more of them he meets. Why do you all have to harsh his vibes, man.]

Patrolling, are you? Getting a sense of what's lurking out in the dark so you can catch it before it strikes?

It was done only partially out of boredom. Half out of punishment. [He winks at her, just for fun.]
