Day 279 | video + action | afternoon
[ video ]
[The astute observer may notice that Anya is wearing two green pearl earrings. The astute observer would probably forget them just as quickly. It's not like a pair of earrings could alter someone's behavior.]

If you have any pearls, please return them to me at [insert address of her apartment]. Thank you.

[Besides, this is just Anya being Anya. Probably.]

[ action — all over the Dome ]
[By the afternoon, Anya is tired of waiting for people to come by her apartment and bring her her pearls. So she starts systematically going through the Dome, stopping people in the street, interrupting them at lunch, knocking on their apartment doors, demanding the return of her pearls.]

You inquired as to why others are doubting you. I am offering an explanation from an objective perspective.

...well I don't like it. Shouldn't you be more sympathetic to my plight?

I am not unsympathetic. However, in the context of justice systems with which I am primarily experienced, the accuser bears the burden of proof.

So if you fail to put your name on something and someone else takes it, you should just suck it up because you can't prove it's yours?

An inquiry; If you had an item in your possession which you had obtained rightfully, and another individual claimed that it had been stolen, would you find it acceptable to be forced to surrender that item based solely on their claim?

Well the other person is clearly lying. [Completely oblivious to the message he's trying to impart.]

And through what means would you conclusively prove that to an objective party?

I would tell them that.

Ah. I believe that has brought us back to the initial problem you are currently facing.

Well you're no help at all.

What would likely be most helpful to your predicament would be if you were to enable yourself to be more receptive to the viewpoints of others.

How would that help me get back my pearls?

Being open to the perspectives and concerns of others, rather than dismissing them, will often lead those others to be more willing to consider your views in turn.

Okay. How can I be more open to their concerns? Should I ask them how their day is going?
