Rowan groaned in pain, having been forcefully woken up by hitting the ground. That was a first for him. He had a queen sized bed, how did he end up on the ground? Pushing himself up to a sitting position, he looked around. Oh, that's why he was on the ground. Who's bright idea was it for him to sleep on a park bench? Wait, why was he in a park, and not at home? Did he have one too many drinks and just passed out somewhere? Oh this was making his head hurt...

And then the welcome message. He managed to get through the opening statements, but when the list of his supposed crimes came up, he was done. So done. He pulled the communicator off of his face, then sat there staring at the strange device, contemplating everything and muttering to himself.

"Crazy technology, overalls ripped off from every prison show ever, waking up in the middle of a park with no knowledge of how I got here... Clearly, either someone is really good at coming up with elaborate pranks, or I've gone crazy."

If that was the case, that really sucked. And Rowan would not be able to let it go. The more they talked, the more Nico reminded him of his brother, whom he was extremely protective of. Like, we're talking 'you hurt him, imma kick yo ass and probably send you to the hospital' kind of protective.

Not that he was one to talk. The only close connection he really had was with his little brother. He and his mom weren't really close anymore, and he didn't really care too much about his step-dad. He hadn't seen his real dad since he was about six, but he was still a little miffed at him for leaving. And he hadn't had a real boyfriend since he was about fourteen, only one night stands and fuckbuddies for the most part, after his first (and only) boyfriend tore out his heart and stomped on it. So he was pretty used to feeling a little lonely himself.

"Well, I'm eighteen, and I'm from Canada. My family... My dad disappeared when I was six, so I only vaguely remember him. My mom started dating again when I was fourteen, and she recently remarried. I have a younger brother, who is a lot like you, actually, only less... outwardly pessimistic."

He frowned, thinking about Tori. He hoped his brother would be okay without him around...
