Day 262 | Video; | Action;
[Julian groaned as he woke up--he felt like he'd slept for hours, but he was lying on something much harder than even the station's Cardassian beds, and it made his neck and shoulders ache terribly. He stretched his neck, then opened his eyes--and was immediately on high alert when the unmistakable fact that he was somewhere that was most definitely not Deep Space 9--not even the holosuite--hit him.

And then the device over his ear and half his face began to play its welcoming message, and he was immediately even more incredulous and angry. To be accused of such crimes and sentenced without due trial--when he'd just avoided being unceremoniously bounced out of Starfleet...

Julian had just escaped a prison that he'd been abducted to in the quiet of night, and now here he was again--without even the dignity of his uniform, instead a bright orange thing that even his fashion sense was affronted by.

There were other people here, he could see them going about their lives, hear their voices over the communicator looped over his ear. Well, time to get the introductions over with.]

Normally, I'd expect to be at least given the basic right of due process and trial by a jury of peers--in which I am proven guilty of whatever crimes I am accused of--before being thrown into a prison indefinitely.

[Not to mention he's fairly sure whoever and whatever power is holding him here doesn't have jurisdiction over him.]

I am Lieutenant Julian Bashir, Chief Medical Officer of Deep Space 9. I'd appreciate any further information anyone can give--and if there are any Starfleet officers present, I would appreciate hearing from you.

[Thank God.

He's always been fairly adaptable, he thinks--after the month he's been having, he would've been in a sorry state indeed if he couldn't adjust to new horrible things.

Still, after dealing with being a captive of the Dominion, and his secret coming out, now this? He's going to need a minute. Or ten.]

...I've been better, to be quite honest.

[ she understands that sentiment. life is never easy for a starfleet officer, particularly with everything that's happened in the last few years. even so, at least there isn't an open war here. ]

Would you mind if I came to meet with you?

[ there are some things she wants to say in person rather than over their communicators. ]

[Yes, there is that--and he's certainly grateful for that much.]

I wouldn't mind at all. One moment--

[He's looking around for landmarks, somewhere he can center in on. He can't give directions, after all, he's not familiar with the area like the Counselor would be.]

The closest landmark seems to be a butterfly pavilion?

[If he sounds a little bit incredulous, it's because he is. What the hell.]

[ she smiles at that familiarity. ]

Tva Park in Sector 2. I was just there yesterday. That will be easy to find. I'll see you soon.

[ and she does, arriving very shortly. again, she's still dressed in civilian clothes, with a certain ring on her finger that she doesn't want to remove for a variety of complicated reasons, but she's wearing a warm smile and at least looks exceptionally friendly. she's also letting her empathy out to see what she can sense from him. ]

It's good to see you in person, Doctor.

Fantastic, at least someone knows where I am.

[I mean, he doesn't. He's troubled, wary, tired, and worried, he can't help much but fret. He'd just been dragged away from a patient--who also happened to be a friend, which just compounded his anxiety about the situation. The rest of the crew was still stranded on that forsaken planetoid to his knowledge, and while the Jem'Hadar weren't around anymore to worry about, well. There were plenty of other things, and Julian had always had an active imagination.

He smiles though, standing up as she approaches and brushing himself off in a self-conscious manner.]

Likewise, Counselor. I'm sorry, I'm not quite as presentable as I usually try to be.

It's all right. None of us seem to arrive here in uniform or anything close to what we normally wear. [ after all, she's not in uniform, either. she is at least in civilian clothes. that counts for something.

if only he knew what she and riker had experienced before they'd arrived here. seeing their dead friend suddenly alive and well again had been a shock. not entirely unpleasant, but a shock nonetheless. and then there's the whole shinzon thing that no one ever wants to go into. especially not deanna.

she senses the chaos of his emotions and understands the feeling. she'll address that in a moment. first she needs to find out where he is in the timeline. she still carries that warm smile, an effort to help him relax as much as he can while they speak. ]

I know this will seem to be a strange question, but I need to know what the stardate is for you. [ or the earth year, whichever is easier. she doesn't care, as long as she finds out his place in the timeline. ]

action; watch me make it up since his canon point doesn't have a stardate.

It could be stranger. I've already spoken with Seven of Nine, it's fairly evident there's discrepancy in our timelines.

The stardate is 50585.4.

[Just after the beginning of the Dominion War in earnest.]

[ well... that's a bit behind her own time, hers and will's. interesting how all of their times are so vastly different. when captain picard was here, his point in the timeline was the same as hers. now she and riker are the only ones who seem to be from the same point. ]

There is. I don't believe I can tell you exactly where I fall, but I am farther along in the timeline. [ there's also her husband, but she'll let him step forward or not at his discretion. ] As the only Starfleet counselor here, I feel it is my duty to offer my services to my fellow officers. Even though you and I are not as familiar with each other as with our separate crews, the offer is open to you as well. I doubt there is anything you could tell me that would violate the Temporal Prime Directive.

[ she's from the future, which means if he wants to, he is free to use her counseling skills without worrying about being confronted by temporal investigations when he gets back. just don't ask her about that war. please. ]
