Day 253 [Video/Action | Open]
Citizens of Marina, I have a serious question for you.

Who would win in a fight? [She holds her adorned hands up one at a time.] Lobster claw oven mitt or shark oven mitt?

I know the shark seems obvious, but the lobster wants it more. Also, I think the wardens might have been drinking when they stocked the store. So, let me know if you're aware of a good AA program for AIs.

[Kitty will be milling around Bull's Eye if you'd like to find her there or on her way home.]

Wow, I better not let all this new power to almost make people consider doing things if there are no other options go to my head.

Hey, when I was sheriff, people seemed to think that the best way to get us to do things was to ply us with donuts.

[ okay, not entirely accurate, but close. ]

It did for some people. Not particularly for me.

No one brings me baked goods. We should work on that. Not a donut person?

Not much of a bribe person.

[ hey, at least she's honest? ]

Probably the better answer. I'm not sure corruption would play well here. No money, goods, or necessary services to trade and hoard.

Probably for the best. [ she gives a very small laugh at that. ] We've got enough to do just with certain beings holding everything over our heads.

Yep. We can have almost anything we want, except freedom and people.

Not donuts apparently.

But that's why we're working on it.

Sounds good to me. You've got my support even without donuts.

[It's been a light conversation. Hard to get too heavy when it started based on ridiculous oven mitts. Yet, the acknowledgement of support is meaningful to her. Not everyone likes the Defense Force. She's had vocal dissenters now and before she was its leader. She's had team members working only with people from their own world instead of the rest of the force and getting attacked without reporting it.

They face a lot of challenges. Their common enemy is mostly unseen and imminently powerful. Some of the people the want to protect are the danger. And even if they got control of things they may never figure out the technology to return anyone or find a way to the surface if this world even has a surface.

So when a little support is offered, it feels like a lot. Even if "get us out of here" is a pretty easy platform to support. So this reply comes with a small pause and a thoughtful look.]

Good to hear. The investigative team is making some progress breaking down what happened on Day 250 [the raptors]. Maybe we'll get somewhere with it.

[ in some ways it's comparable to what liz has experienced being a member of the founder's council of mystic falls. there were always disbelievers, people who thought the founding family members were crazy about all that vampire and supernatural crap. the town had been relatively normal for so long that when things started happening, the council panicked. then had come the time that several of them had threatened carol lockwood and liz herself over the knowledge of what their children, tyler and caroline, had become. if liz and carol had still been a part of that, they would have died with the other twelve council members in the fire on the young family property.

challenge and adversity are things liz can understand fully and in a situation like this, even the smallest bit of support can mean the difference. considering what their common enemy here is, liz doesn't see why they should waste time fighting amongst themselves. to her, the defense force feels like what the council should have been, what it once was, and that's why she's a part of it. ]

If not, you could always ask if a raptor mitt would win against the lobster and shark.

[She smirks a little.] I think that might depend if they're on land or in the water. Some definitely advantages and disadvantages there.

Definitely. Cage match. They can make pasta or something.

...Do you need potholders when you make pasta?

I think it depends on the pot you're using. But they can find something to have a cage match over.
