[ Charlotte is looking slightly worse for wear this fine day, part of her head covered in a bandage and eyes lacking the luster of a good nights sleep. She's contemplative, idly picking at the remnants of a pie on her plate (pear and gruyere, what else?). ]

You know, I was thinking... this is the first time I live on my own. I went from living with my dad to living with my aunts and then Ned. I've never really been on my own like this before... and that was fine, until yesterday. Not that yesterday was as bad as it could've been of course, but it still brings you pause.

How many of us live alone here? It seems like it'd be nice to have a roommate, someone who'll notice if you get eaten by a dinosaur or disappear or... you know. Lots of stuff could happen.

[ Well, that sure got her to perk up. ] Really? What languages were you thinking of?

Only a small handful of the ones I know, most likely, unless someone's feeling like an adventurous independent study. I was thinking of offering a few European languages, a Romance and Germanic language or two. Perhaps begin with French or Latin, move on to Italian. I suppose it really depends on who comes and what they're interested in.

[ she knows quite a few lesser known languages as well and would be happy to offer those to select interested parties. ]

Oh, that would be great! Well, actually I'm already fluent in French and German but if you do any of the others then sign me up!

[ French, German, Swedish, Chinese and Japanese. Anything else would be awesome. ]

Absolutely I can. Are those the only two languages you know?

[ this counts as getting helen started talking about things she could ramble on all day. now she'll never stop. ]

Oh, no! I know Swedish, Chinese and Japanese as well... and English, of course. Blame it on a lot of time to kill and access to language tapes.

Ah, Japanese is certainly a good choice. I can't say I've had too much experience with Swedish, but I am fluent in Norwegian if you're ever curious to compare those.

Sure, I wouldn't mind some practice. It's certainly not the language I've had the most use of yet, that's for sure.

Then I'll be certain to inform you when I get a class schedule set up. [ it should prove fun, right? ]

I look forward to it. [ So much fun. ] Oh... I should probably go tidy up some, in case I do find a roommate. It was really nice talking to you again, Helen.

[ helen nods, smiling warmly. ] The same to you. Until later.

[ and she'll end it there. ]
