[ Charlotte is looking slightly worse for wear this fine day, part of her head covered in a bandage and eyes lacking the luster of a good nights sleep. She's contemplative, idly picking at the remnants of a pie on her plate (pear and gruyere, what else?). ]

You know, I was thinking... this is the first time I live on my own. I went from living with my dad to living with my aunts and then Ned. I've never really been on my own like this before... and that was fine, until yesterday. Not that yesterday was as bad as it could've been of course, but it still brings you pause.

How many of us live alone here? It seems like it'd be nice to have a roommate, someone who'll notice if you get eaten by a dinosaur or disappear or... you know. Lots of stuff could happen.

Have you found yourself a place, love? [Not offering, really, but he is curious.

Him offering would lead to bad things, probably.]

Oh yes, I have... actually, I've been staying here since I arrived. It's been about three weeks.

I guess the novelty has worn off a bit by now. [ She wouldn't really say flat-out no if he did offer. She's shared apartments with boys before. Well, Ned. Maybe he doesn't count. ]

But would you move or invite someone in? [Curious, though again disinterested.

He has a place. He likes it empty. Thinks she might like the cat too much.]

Be careful who you put trust in, I suppose that's a fair and common warning. [Beep beep irony warning.]

Depends on who's interested. I could move if that's the easier choice, but I also have more room than I know what to do with. [ She would like the cat too much. She'd squish it daily. ]

And you don't have to tell me that, you know. I know what misplaced trust can get you.

[His lips almost curl into a smile, how can you be so endearingly sweet and gullible.

It appeals to him. In good and bad ways.]
While I can't be a roommate for you, you're welcome to the stay the night with me any day you please.

[ Surfaces can be deceptive. She may be a little too trusting for her own good, but she's not entirely naive either. It's just an action based trust and so far he's done nothing to break hers. ]

That's very sweet of you, thanks. Maybe a sleepover wouldn't be such a bad idea, if I really can't find anyone to live with.

[And oh how he likes you, Chuck.] Don't limit yourself.

You're welcome any time.

That's very generous of you. I feel like I should give you something in return. [ Hm. ]

Do you like pie?

[God, give this man food and he'll really be yours. Not in any false way, either.

His human side has quite the appetite and it's a quick way to lure him into doing what you want.]
I wouldn't pass it up.

What's your favorite flavor?

I don't play favorites. [Apple's really nice, alright.]

Whatever you make, I'll eat.

Easy to please, I like that. [ Heh. ] I have some rhubarb left actually, if you'd like a slice. Or I could bake you something fresh, but I'd have to go out and get some more ingredients first.

[Giiiirl.] Rhubarb. Sounds delicious.

I still owe you dinner, but I can bring you a bottle of red.

What's up with the boys here and trading me wine for pie? Not that I'm complaining, of course. Red wine goes well with cheddar or camembert... or gruyere!

Nice choice.

Hmn, well... I suppose it wouldn't be too inappropriate if we met here. In my apartment, I mean. It's just pie, no sexy shenanigans.

Pie can be very important. Especially when it's so easily misconstrued into a euphemism that shouldn't have anything to do with pie.
