[ Charlotte is looking slightly worse for wear this fine day, part of her head covered in a bandage and eyes lacking the luster of a good nights sleep. She's contemplative, idly picking at the remnants of a pie on her plate (pear and gruyere, what else?). ]

You know, I was thinking... this is the first time I live on my own. I went from living with my dad to living with my aunts and then Ned. I've never really been on my own like this before... and that was fine, until yesterday. Not that yesterday was as bad as it could've been of course, but it still brings you pause.

How many of us live alone here? It seems like it'd be nice to have a roommate, someone who'll notice if you get eaten by a dinosaur or disappear or... you know. Lots of stuff could happen.

[ Chuck isn't as keen on lying, but she is pretty good at rationalizing by now. Compromising, maybe. Looking at the bright side. Whatever you want to call it when you look at a crappy situation and insist that it's not nearly as bad as it is.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I do have a boyfriend back home. [ That she's maybe too loyal to for her own good. ] Some company never hurts though.

	I can imagine so. Well, if a roommate situation doesn't work out, there's always the friend system. Arrange to meet someone for lunch on specific days. If you ever fail to meet that arrangement, your friend will be aware. [ she's not sure she believes it, but she'll go with it for now, as she doesn't have any reason not to. ] If you're certain. [Her ears flick slightly, thoughtful and pensive. It's something Toul had thought about herself since arriving here. Galin had disappeared and then she had met Saxa and then she had found herself in prison, so it had not hit her how odd living alone was until she came to Marina.] You're quite right. It's odd how few people are here when the prison is so large. There's enough space here for people to have all their own homes many times over.

I wonder if they expected us to all want to live alone, here.

	Maybe... or maybe they're just planning for the future. If only they didn't lose more people than they bring in, this place could be a whole lot more crowded. That is an interesting thought to take into consideration. [Toul hasn't been in the prison long enough to know just how normal the coming and going of the prisoners is.] Although if they knew so many people wouldn't be able to stay, one might think they would be bringing more people in.

I hope you manage to find a friend to share quarters with. Having even one other person around makes a world of difference, I think.

I've never done it. I mean, not really. There was a time for awhile when we all lived in one building together in the first prison. It was called the shelter...the place where we lived, not the first prison. That was Marina.

Um, but I mean it was more like everyone just had a bedroom room and we shared kitchens and living spaces. And bathroom stuff. [And now he has his roommates and before that he was at home with his family or in the demon kingdom in the castle with everyone else. Never alone.]

Maybe you could live with us. [Just ignoring the lack of another room or the other four people he should consult.]
