[ Voice, open to all ]

'Bout a week ago, some guy asked me how many people I'd seen come an' go since I got here. In three months it's somethin' like... 70 out of 110. Probably more now, I ain't bothered countin'... but that kinda stuff can really get you down, even when you don't know th' numbers. We lose people all th' time here. People we got to know here, friends from back home... [ He falls silent for a beat. Draws a steadying breath. ] An' it's sad. It's damn sad an' there ain't nothin' we can do 'bout it but keep goin'.

...I guess I just wanted t' remind y'all about th' Memorial Garden down in Sector 4. Anyone who wants t' plant somethin' there in memory of someone they lost, whether they were here or back home... you're welcome to. It's for all of us, th' ones that are still here an' the ones that aren't.

[ Voice, locked to Sougo ]

Hey, Sougo... I need your help with somethin'.

[ Action, open ]

[ Aidan will be dividing his day between lugging boxes between Sector 2 and 4, and later spending a few long hours in the Memorial Garden. Feel free to approach the pensive country boy! ]

I think it's to be expected. Big place, people brought in from all over.

Makes here all the more interesting, possibly a little more dangerous because you don't know what kind of people will join us.

Yeah, you're right 'bout that... still, people are always going to be people, even if they're from a completely different place.

I know. [ And some weren't even human. ] Do you have a job here? I don't but I've always wondered what others do.

Oh yeah, I'm a bus boy down at Merlotte's... well, th' Greasy Spoon now, I guess. Ain't been takin' up shifts in a while though, things got kinda... hectic. [ Disappearing boyfriend and all that. Boss too, for that matter. ]

I'm sorta takin' care of th' Memorial Garden too, an' I help out with th' welcome baskets, but I ain't too sure if you can count that as a job.

Ah, Merlotte's. Sam was a good friend of mine but I must have went there whenever you weren't working. [ For the longest time Rose had been a frequent visitor at Merlotte's but she hasn't been there since it changed names. ]

It would only really count as a job if you were getting paid for it. Still, a good way to gain yourself some rehab points.

Only kind of pay we can get 'round here, I guess. Maybe it should be weird, but I never really cared 'bout th' money.... 's th' keepin' busy I'm after, anyway.

It's not weird. Some people just like doing stuff to keep themselves busy without asking for anything in return. I know I could stand to be a bit more productive myself.

What did you do back home?

Oh, a little bit of everythin' I guess... I grew up on a farm, so I mostly did that until I moved out at 18. After that, I took whatever work I could find. Bus boy, cleanin', runnin' errands or messages, garbage collector, dish washer... I was a bouncer for a little while, but it didn't work out so well.

Lately, I uh... I guess you could say I signed up for th' army. Cookin', cleanin'... helpin' th' medics out. Stuff like that. No actual soldiering.

Well, that's quite the mixture of jobs you have done. I grew up around horses myself but I drifted from place to place so I never really settled down anywhere. [She had a good reason for it.]

All of those skills could come in quite handy here. Maybe you could pass them on through giving a class or something.

Heh... you're not th' first person to say that, y'know. You really think that's somethin' people would want to learn though? I mean... it ain't nothin' special. Just stuff you learn by livin'. Ain't like anyone here needs me t' teach 'em how to take care of 'emselves, right?

You'd be surprised at what some people would be interested in learning. Not all of them have had the same experience as you; sharing that could be a good thing but it's up to you.

But I'd imagine that most people here would know the basics.

Yeah, maybe... I ain't too sure how to go 'bout that tho. I mean, ain't like anyone taught me... not like they do it in school, anyway.

Never was too good at th' schoolin' as is. Kinda feel like I wouldn't make a good teacher 'cause of it.

I wasn't taught that way either. Learned a lot of things at home rather than school and when I got older, I learned more along the way.

All you can really do is try. If it doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out.

You're welcome, Aidan. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
