Day 248 - Action - Open to all
[Clinic]

Helen hadn't been around lately, so Martha had a valid excuse to avoid the clinic. And she'd been avoiding Sam, but Helen was her main excuse. Of course, she was concerned for the other woman, but she figured Helen would seek her out if she needed help. After doing a quick inventory of the place and making sure everything looked good, Martha sat behind the desk and opened her book on pathology while waiting for any patients to come in.]

[Coffee shop]

[She hadn't been planning to stop by, but the tea in the clinic was boring her and she wanted something before going to the library. The line was longer than usual, but she made it to the front soon enough. A few conversations on her way out and then she was on her way.]

[Library]

[Pathology was definitely a fascinating topic. Martha spent quite a few minutes browsing through the section before grabbing a pile of books and making her way to a table to start evaluating which ones she should take out and which could stay. She could be found with books piled around her, an open notebook, and a forgotten cup of tea.]

[OOC: Feel free to run into her wherever.]

Break out? Only if you were able to breath underwater and could withstand the pressure. There's also a gigantic cephalopod out there that I don't fancy meeting.

Not that I enjoy being here...

[She nods.] Well Miss... sorry I never caught your name. I'm sorry you've been stuck here like the rest of us, but welcome to the prison. At least there's a library.

It would gives us something to think about and do. [ If you had the right mind for it ]

My name's Helena. And I couldn't say that I didn't expect being here. [ Maybe not being here exactly, but in prison. It wasn't the first time, and she still had a lot of atoning to do ]

[Martha doesn't have much to say about the first bit. Once they can solve the problem of being underwater and withstanding hte pressure, she'll be happy to assist, but so far, any research she has found has turned up nothing. Medical research is far better. As to the woman's second comment.]

Hello Helena. The prison seems to be split on opinions. Many of us feel that we definitely deserve to be here, atoning for our crimes, and then there are those who feel like they were wrongfully imprisoned.

[Not that Martha felt this was the exact place for her to be, but she did have plenty to atone for. Guilt for a false timeline still weighed on her.]

Where do you fit on that scale?

[ It was a lot to ask of someone that you'd just met but, as Martha had said, they were all in prison together ]

[Martha shifts a bit uncomfortably.]

It depends on which of the long list of crimes against me you look at. Sedition sounds bad, but not so much when you're trying to bring down the power hungry alien who has already killed half the population and plans to bring down more.

But accessory to genocide when you're the reason he came to power in the first place...

[See the guilt.]

[ Helena gives a nod. She understands the feeling from that, and even having to take similar actions yourself ]

Did you manage to stop him?

I did. It took some time. A lot of time. A lot of lives.

That would explain why you're not settled about it. How long ago did it happen?

Two years... [Give or take. Martha's timeline messed her up plenty.]

I'm sorry. Not the nicest things to be discussing with newcomers.
