[ day 239 ] action / voice :: open
[ In the dome in the morning ]

[ Jean-Luc, normally a very vibrant individual, normally a man with a mission and a purpose, no matter what that purpose might be, is standing very still in the middle of the dome. He’s in sector zero. Near the kiosk. Studying it with intense scrutiny, too still for any normal human being. ]

[ private to Helen ]

Doctor Magnus, I’m afraid I find it necessary to postpone tea. Perhaps we can meet tomorrow?

[ private to Trek crew ]

Is anyone…? [ There’s a moment of hesitation here, abnormal for this Captain on a normal day. He clears his throat and seems to come into himself, more stern and self-assured. ] Report.

ooc: Part 2 of the Locutus plot. The Trek muns know that Locutus is peeking into Picard’s consciousness. But anyone else who runs into him, he won’t be acting quite like himself!

[ That voice seems to snap him part way out of his reverie. He turns just his head to look at Tieria, then looks back to the kiosk. ]

That would indeed explain my standing here, wouldn't it? [ Meaning, he isn't quite sure how he got here. ]

It would initially.

[Tieria looked curious and then glanced at the kiosk himself. At first appearances, it seemed normal and functional enough.]

Did it not respond to a request?

[ Jean-Luc takes a step closer to the kiosk, silent for several moments as his consciousness seems to shift. His voice is still authoritative and commanding, but more detached, with less of the normal lilt that comes with it. ]

It will be assimilated.

[That was alarming. Tieria's heart almost skipped a beat at the idea.]

Captain?

[Assimilated... it was like what the ELS had tried to do... at first. In their strange, misunderstood method of communicating, they had managed to take over people's bodies, though only those compatible survived.

Needless to say, Tieria was now officially worried.]

[ Slowly, Jean-Luc turns his head, staring at Tieria not with the expressive eyes of a human, but with the detached eyes of something other, something mechanical in nature. ]

You. Will be assimilated.

[Nope. Definitely not good. Tieria took a step back, a small moment of panic and terror overtaking him as the memory of the ELS attempting to absorb him flashed through his mind. He clenched his fists.

They weren't here in the dome. He had to remind himself of that. He would have figured it out. They would have come after him at some point if he even did the slightest little thing with his quantum brainwaves. So, no, this wasn't what he was thinking.]

[The panic squashed for now, he pulled himself together. This man was not an ELS. He couldn't do what he was saying. Tieria did have basic knowledge that a race of beings called "Borg" existed, but he didn't know anything about them beyond that, so he had no idea what this version of "assimilated" meant.

However, he recognized a personality shift when he saw one, thanks to Allelujah and Hallelujah.]

Captain Jean-Luc Picard. [His tone was firm and he raised the volume of his voice, hoping to jar the other man a little.] If you can hear me, you need to exert control.

[ A step forward and a hand shot out rather fast to clasp around Tieria's neck and squeeze. ]

I am Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile.

[Lucky for Tieria, he was uncommonly quick on his feet thanks to being an Innovade and a Meister type at that. He'd been designed for battle. Though, his main strength was mobile suit battles, not hand-to-hand.

So, while he was able pull back and deflect an initial attempt to grapple from Jean-Luc, or Locutus, by gripping the Captain's forearm and turning to pin that attacking arm under his own, a second attempt with the other arm from behind would likely catch him off guard as he recovered from the shock of the first.]

I am not interested in speaking with you. [His tone was snappish, and a bit snarly.] I demand to speak with Captain Picard! [He was going to try and appeal through to the Captain. He had to still be in there, right?]
