Day 239 - Voice
[If this was a video post you might see how trashed the room (what used to be Matt's room) is right now. Someone's lost her temper over recent developments, to say the least. But as it is, she's leaving this as a clipped voice message. She hates making these posts but she knows at least Elena (and Caroline, she supposes) deserve to know.]

Matt Donovan has been lost to the dimensional stabilizer. I'm beginning to wonder if the thing has something against me.

[Because first her brothers, then Quinn, and now Matt.

That's it, that's the post. She closes it off after that.]

I'll be right there.

[ true to her word, she's there as quickly as she can be, knocking on the door once she gets there. she's got a bottle of wine tucked under one arm and two glasses in the other hand. ]

[Rebekah gets up to open the door. It's pretty clear she's upset about all this but she smiles weakly.]

That was quick.

How could I do any less for my friend?

[ here, take the wine bottle she's offering so she can hug you, rebekah. ]

I even brought glasses.

[She takes the wine bottle easily.

The hug is more strange but she takes that too.
]

How thoughtful of you.

[ it's a motherly sort of gesture, but she lets go and steps aside, holding up the glasses. ]

Shall we? I'd like to at least hear how you're doing. [ even if it's "horrible and awful and i hate this place." ]

Not well. You'd think I'd get used to this part of things. [People disappearing here, often the ones she's closest to.]

And you'd think my 113 years alone would make it easier on me, but it doesn't. [ she'll just casually trade a glass for the wine bottle so she can pour their drinks for them and take a seat somewhere. ] There's always a chance he'll come back, isn't there?

There is. [But so far when Rebekah's lost people here her luck hasn't played out this way.]

He's probably better off anyway. He was too good for this place.

What was he like?

[ she doesn't know much about him aside from his injury and a few basic things. she's curious. and she also wants to try to get rebekah talking to let off some steam and remember the good things about him and their time here. ]

He's kind, loyal, very human. He's had to struggle for almost everything he has. [She remembers him telling her about his mother, about his sister. How he first found out about vampires.]

He tries to be there for his friends no matter what, even if they often seem to forget about him.

He sounds like a good person. I can see why you like him.

[ she pauses for a moment to sip at her drink. she didn't know him well at all and barely has much to go on. there's not much to say about this sort of thing aside from trying to reassure rebekah and that will only go so far when she's having trouble herself. ]

Do you have a routine in the daytime?

[ because she's now planning on dragging them both out for the morning, perhaps shopping, or what constitutes as shopping here. at the very least, it'll give them something to do. ]

He was. And he was one of the first people who seemed to believe I could be better than I was.

[And that had been important too, something she could never quite make up to him.]

Not a set one, no. Why?

[ helen understands that and it's part of the reason she's been so supportive of rebekah. everyone needs that support, that belief that they can be better than what they are. ]

Come on. [ she sets her wine glass aside, stands, and offers rebekah her hand. ] I think you and I need to get out and do something. We could check out one of the restaurants or see if there are any new clothes. Only an hour or so. I won't take up your whole day. [ because at some point she'll need to get back to the clinic. ] But it might be good for both of us.

[Rebekah drains her own glass before setting it down. She takes the other woman's hand, smiling.]

It's been a while since I've gone shopping. At least a few days.

[And the distraction sounds nice.]

All the more reason to go now. Come on.

[ and with a smile, she'll give rebekah's hand a gentle tug and head on out. this is definitely a good distraction and a good excuse for them to hang out and bond a little more. ]

I'm not protesting, am I? [It'll be a good distraction, and really, she's all for spending more time with Helen.]
