[237] Struggling with my humanity or lack thereof therapy
[ Considering the nature of the group, it's unsurprising that it is being held in The Blood Shack. There is a sign on the door announcing that the bar is closed for therapy adding that if you're here for the 'Struggling with my humanity of the lack thereof' therapy session, please come in and make yourself at home. Someone (not Eric) has made over the bar so that it looks a great deal like an AA room rather than a bar. The tables are arranged into a square shape (yes, the way you used to sit in school). The bar is open, but the alcoholic beverages have been locked up. The blood taps are available and there's a selection of bottled blood sitting on top of the bar. It is clearly self serve. There's also a selection of pastries on the bar for those that like a little nibble with their blood. Next to this is a large fishbowl filled with folded slips of paper. There's a small sign next to it that urges each participant to take a question from the fishbowl, help yourself to some refreshment and have a seat.

On their folded slips of paper, participants will find such questions:

Were you ever human? If so, when was that? What are you now?
How do you define 'humanity'?
What is your opinion of humans? Why? How did you develop this opinion?
Discuss the relationships you currently have with humans.
What is the most important factor in maintaining your humanity? Do you feel it's important to maintain?
Has there been a change in your humanity, for the better or worse? What prompted that?
Discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of humanity.

Just in case anyone has any doubt that we're here for business and not pleasure, the jukebox has been locked down as well.]

ooc:as with other posts, don't feel limited by these questions. Feel free to add your own and assume these are just some of the questions in the fishbowl. Mingle, make new threads, interrupt threads and enjoy! Note that your character does not have to be non-human to be here! Humans struggle with their humanity sometimes too!

[ A shrug, nonchalant. This could absolutely go in sensitive places but they're not there yet. ]

Where I'm from, humanity gets you killed. Emotion, affection... softness. All that bollocks will drop you right to the bottom of the pecking order. It's not really something to strive for.

Your world must be vastly different where I'm from. Are you out of the coffin, so to speak? Or does your world still operate under the concept that vampires are things from stories?

[ He smirks a bit, obviously amused]

Where I'm from, it integrates you. Keeps you safe, gains you power. Of course, it has to be tempered with viciousness in the right amounts at the right times. The humane public face for the humans, the scary monster face for the vampires.

[ He leans back in his chair. ] There is no one higher in the pecking order than I am back home.

[ It's not entirely true. Yes, he is the oldest vampire living (that they know of at his canon point) and he's got a great deal of power because of his age, his contacts and his success at adapting to living 'out of the coffin'. The authority has no idea what to do with him because of his age and because of Nora. However, there is an order of royalty in vampire society. Eric is a bit lower on the ladder in that instance. ]

[ He quirks a brow at the explanation — it's no surprise, if Eric isn't the big bad back where he's from Spike sure doesn't want to meet the guy who is, but it's still difficult to wrap his head around it. How can a world so steeped in bloody politics bring out such tough guys? He doesn't get it. ]

We're still the things that go bump in the night and I'm happy to keep it that way. No bloody politics and acting like we're nicer than we are. I'm a monster, no sense in denying that.

Actually, I'm pretty damn proud of it. It'd be a boring old world if I had to go around saying please and thank you every time I want a bite.

I must admit. Things were much simpler when we were still monsters under the bed. [ He sighs a little nostalgically. ]

At the same time I like the lifestyle publicity affords me. [He has rather expensive taste in clothing, houses, cars....everything. ]

[ Cocks his head, curiously. ] Well, if you're a bloke who likes the finer things in life... never had much problem just taking what I needed, mind you.

[ Or whatever Dru needed, more like it. He was happy as long as he had a telly and somewhere to sleep. ]

Mmmmm, yes. Well, that worked well enough before humans managed to get organized, before the authority as a whole decided to come out of the coffin. Afterwards, it became much more difficult to take what one wanted.

Soddin' politics... not worth the bloody effort, if you ask me. And I thought that great big poofter Dracula was bad enough.

Yeah idk what happened to this notif

[Eric quirks an eyebrow up. ]

He's real in your world? [ He should probably clarify. ] In mine, he's a story created by the authority to throw the public off the idea of real vampires.

Damn right, he's real. Owes me eleven quid, that bloody poofter... and don't even get me started on that soddin' book of his. Anyone knows how to kill us now.

[ eric smirks at that. ] It's fascinating how the details are so incredibly different in our worlds. Of course, a stake to the heart does kill our kind, as does a beheading, but then that's true of most things.

That's what I always say. [ Really, they're not special in that aspect. ] So, what else kills your lot? Since we're comparing and all.

[ That's not something Eric shares normally, but they are drugged up on whatever it is the Wardens are putting in the blood that makes them all so chatty. ]

Silver, too much sunlight, of course. Fire if one is trapped. Exsanguination. Enough of a particular faerie's light.

[ He quirks an eyebrow and nods to Spike. Clearly it's his turn to share. ]

[ Gladly. Not the first time he's done it either. ]

Sun's always a problem... fire. Silver's for werewolves but crucifixes and holy water burn like a bitch. [ And if it hadn't healed over, he'd lift his shirt to show that neat little cross-shaped burn he had on his chest a short week ago. Alas. ]

[ Poor confessional vampires. ]

Interesting. [ And he means it. ] Crucifixes and other holy objects have little effect on us. Silver affects our werewolves as well though.

What about those pesky invites? Is that still a hurdle to get over or have you lot found a way around it?

Yes, and no. [ Eric waffles his head back and forth a bit at that. ]

I still need the invitation, but I can glamor the resident into giving it to me.

Isn't that practical... always did prefer hunting out in the open, myself. Getting invited hasn't been that big of a deal.

I've been on synthetic blood, outside of the occasional snack for a few years now. That hasn't changed here.

I don't know how you do it, mate. It'd drive me mental.
